I'll admit the age of them makes me a bit un-easy but what the hell. If allowing a group of children to die will secure the future of Aussie-land, then so be it. I can't argue it too much. We've gone back forth like crazy over this type of thing. We allowed to stay, most of the Haitians/Cubans who came over years ago, but I know we have/had refugees sitting in jail for decades as well. Oh well. Sometimes ya gots to make the tough calls.

I absolve anyone of responsibility for an individual's suicide, especially in this case where it is completely irrational and unreasonable, and they are doing it as a protest to demand something from another group. Suicide is entirely the responsibility of the individual.
I'm not saying I have no sympathy for them, or anyone who kills themselves for other reasons, but it's nobody else's fault.
In the case of civilians murdered by military strikes and bombing raids, there is definately someone to blame.

No-one is actively going out of their way to kill these people, let alone encourage them to do it, rather they have a lwayer, and other people discouraging them from taking this type of action.

There is nothing similar about these two issues - let alone you and I.

You've made no point here except that you are apathetic, ignorant and completely indifferent when it comes to the life or death of another group of people.

I don't think they'd go that far, but the US gets a lot of flak from the whole world. It's probably more surprising coming from the UK cos we're such close polotical allies.

They get a lot of flak and a lot of it is deserved, but a lot of it isn't. If any other country was in the same position of power and influence that the US currently holds, I doubt there would be many that would behave better.

People in glass houses and all that. I'm happy to take the piss out of Americans (and any other group for that matter - religious, ethnic, geographic, political, whatever) but I don't think I or my country has any kind of moral high ground to preach from.

Sure, we could all do things a little better, but realistically, humans are emotional creatures and we do stupid things. I mean, the US managed to elect Dubya for God's sakes. What do you expect? Hardly the sharpest tools in the box when it comes to public opinion :rolleyes:
