I have never been one for rules or people dictating stuff to me, in fact I rebel when this happens, which has dropped me in a creek without a paddle on many many occasions. Badger on the rampage! :D
However, you must look at this from another persepective. This site is a business...simple as that. If it starts to loose cash then it will be shut down, unless they sub it, which I doubt they will.

This forum seems to be a very strong one. Load of users and loads of helpers. I understand concerns about swearing etc but I cant see chit chat damaging the Vb sections.

Not everyone spends all their time on VBF in the programming forums. Chit Chat helps to be the little break in between work. Attracts a lot of us, works for a lot of us. Probably doesn't work for you, but that doesn't mean it applies to everyone. :rolleyes:
As for this being a business, one of the ways to keep people coming back is to have a good atmosphere. That's why Chit Chat is popular, and that's what keeps a lot of us coming back. It's a perk, add-on, whatever.

I use chit chat now and again...and I notice that most of the threads go off topic VERY quickly with random crap :(
I don't use chit chat as much as you lot do, so no, I cannot appreciate it as much as some of you do. In fact, it wouldn't bother me in the slightest if chit chat didn't exist.
On a lighter note, I am still ill. Had chest xrays 2 days ago and blood samples taken yesterday. I also have high blood preasure, 148 :( No suprise there since the job I do is pants and I deal with muppets.
Waiting for test results to come back.
If I have cancer and die next year can you all promise me you'll sing "Ding dong Woka is dead" on my funeral :) (Am being serious)
Lack of caffine is doing my head in. Decaf should be illegal.

I really don't have much of a personal opinion of chit chat since I don't use it that much. I am really just putting points forward, so far from how the owners may see it.

It's a protection thing for kids on the internet I believe.
For example if they want to register at a forum that uses Coppa and they are under 15 or something, their parents have to sign and send an agreement. (at least that's what's it at my forum software)
