in seems that I,L, and T are all getting translated to "1"
any preferences? if there is more than 1 substitution, then they are picked randomly, but i see this as a potential problem.
i'm reading in all the words, and working on the letters.
not elegant, but it works.

I think that "t" or "T" should be occasionally changed to "7" but not too often.
"i" should be changed to "!", "1" or "|" (pipe)
"L" should change to "|_" (pipe, underscore) or something.
if "I" and "L" should appear side by side then only one of the letters should be changed, to avoid confusion.

side-by-side letters would be hard to code. maybe there should be only every other letter substitued? or maybe only two letters per word? or half of the letters in a word? anyone?
it I changed every letter, then only the l33t words will be understandable, and I thought that we want others to understand it?

first that I heard of *that*. i spent a while making the files, and then reading them. I'd hate to have to do otherwise. I used to use DATA statements and read them in, I don't know if it works in VB, but I don't really want to have to do it.

I'm a little worried that such a straight forward class should be causing so many problems.
VB6. I've sent the files to Manno. Hope he can put some time into it. External Files can be changed in the future. I thought the l33t wordlist would change.
You could always have an embedded resource in VB.NET. I forget if it's there in VB6. Or just hardcode the values...

depends what type you use. Course paper will make a deep groove but fine wont :lol:

Instructions, follow carefully!
Add all the images to the project, and then right click them, click properties. In the property grid, set the "Compile type" to embedded resource. It has to be at the top level, not inside some folder.
Next, go through the rudemessagebox.vb class and look for the following line:

and change "SandpaperProject." to the name of the project. (SandNet I believe)
Usage is pretty simple. Simply import SandNet (that's the name you've kept) and do a MessageBox.show.
Works well with MeaningOfLife generator too. :D
Hmm... might be a problem.
Need you to try something. Compile the DLL, images and all. Then reference it from another project, and try to display the messagebox. Do the images show up? I tried it right now and the images aren't showing up.
How are you "loading" the images into the DLL project?
BTW, are you using VB.net Standard or Pro? I have standard at home (my Sandpaper dev machine) but Pro at work.

My calulation algorithm relies on a slow (microsoft) Activex component, which is causing a major performance bottleneck. It takes about 2 seconds to plot this image in debug IDE. It is having to calculate much more off-screen data but still, its not good. I want to get it down to 100ms at least for a 4-curve plot like this.
Ideas for features for this class are very welcome :)
Just a suggestion. A SandNet.Data.* namespace. About connectivities or something? Perhaps this might be useful to some.
We'd need something to put in it of course :).
Something that does data connections the wrong way perhaps. Like, no matter what you connect it to, it'll always pull up stuff from a hardcoded set of values. :D

I am going to work on fixing the messagebox problem this weekend. After that, we should be ready for the first release. We can just keep adding more for the next release.

Suffice it to say, your life will be irrevocably altered as a result of the first release of SandNet. Also, the first build will be for .Net only, there was a really good reason for this which has temporarily escaped me.
