Condolences tp parksie's family. With the great contribution he had made, surely he will be missed.
Got it but no one's on. :(
:(
Although I never met him nor spoke with him, Im sad to hear the news and pray for him and his family. Im sorry to hear this news to anyone that knew him personally.
I DONT BELIEVE IT, IF YOU ARE DOING SUICIDE YOU NEED TO BE REALLY SAD, I DONT BELIEVE IT, HE MUST BE MURDERED
I love it when people speak their mind without any prior thought process occuring. Haha :D
This is not a pleasant thing to wake up to :(
I knew parksie well in the good old days of VB-World.net and spoke to him often, but like plenderj lost touch recently.
I remember him as full of life and humour, always eager to help out even the most useless of programmers.
Rest in Peace, Mike
:mike: We Will Remember Them...:duck:

Wow, that really sucks. We need as many good coders around here as we can get, and he was definitely one of the best. My thoughts are with his family and friends. :(
My apologies to those of you who have been tying to get hold of me. I'm staying with a friend at the moment (binary_hero) so obviously I won't be easily reached either on irc or by email. I am trying to keep up with all of Mike's threads accross the different forums however so if you need anything feel free to pm me and i'll try to get back to you as quickly as possible. It's been so touching to read all of your messages to mike, ourselves, and his family and I would like to do anything I can to help you all at this time. I know some people who are unable to attend the funeral wish to light a candle for mike, if you want to, his funeral withh be at 1.30pm on thursday the 9th.
omg :(
Mike has been hangin around here for as long as I can remember...he will be missed

Someone should post a candle here in chit chat on that day as well...
Reading these post just about bring me to tears.
Parksie post over the last few years have been a great help to me as well many others. There is nothing like getting the email that someone has posted a reply to your question or a thread you are apart of and you see the response was from the yellow duck we all knew as Parksie. Mike had always been there for us, and sadly in the end he was alone without help. Parksie you will be missed . R.I.P
Even though it's been a couple of years since I last visited this place, I immediately recognized Parksie from a friend's display picture... Mike was just one of the people you can't forget...
Just wanted to say; my deepest condolences to all who knew him well, in real life or on the internet...
I am soooo sorry to hear this. I just came home from my vecation...and got realy sad because my $3000 bike is stolen, but this is just so much more sad. I know how you (AngelPHiSH, binary and so on) feel right now...I lost on of my best frined in the army the day before X-mas a couple of years ago. I still think about him a lot. And I still got his phone number on my phone. Can't delete it.
Some times I wan't to forget all about him, and some times you will probably feel the same, but guys like that you never forget. And it is a good thing. Cherish his memories, about all he was. And never forget.
My condolences goes to all of you who knew him and of course his family.
:mike: RIP :mike:
I know I haven't been around VBF lately, but I remember Parksie as always being there to help people out whenever he could. I am very sorry to hear that he is no longer with us. :(
i came from holidays and i found this news...
i never meet him, but he is one of the most respected members of this forum...
i am very sad, really...
bye man...
condolence to Mike Parksie's family...
:duck: :duck: :mike: :mike:
I don't really post that much here anymore :(, but I talk with NoteMe on MSN now and then (well, it was a while since last), and today, I double-clicked him and started talking to him. He said parksie was dead, which felt really sad, even though I haven't even talked to him much.
And now, I checked the time for his funeral in my time table; 14.30 GMT+1, which is exactly when my C++ lesson in school ends. How nice, isn't it?
All my condolences to parksie's family and friends.
Well, I haven't seen Parksie in so long...he hasn't posted at any of the forums I post at...but I remember him from when I first signed up here, Parksie was the one helping people out...
Truly a great member and we will miss him, and it is a shame that he had to end his life this way, so young.
RIP Duck-man, you will be missed :mike:
Condolences to the family and all his friends...
Parksie helped me several times with various VB problems I had, I know without a doubt after reading this that he will be sorely missed. :duck:
Nice to see some old faces :)
Rest in Peace Mikey.
:mike: :duck:
Parksie was the most difficult kind of person to find in this world: A true teacher. Not a professor, but a teacher. Someone who had patience enough for staying with someone until his doubts were cleared and they learned something new. Mike didn't do this for money, no... He did it just because he thought it was the right thing to do.
It was not only "Parksie taught me how to use a vector" or "Parksie showed me strtok is evil", because anyone could have taught you that anyway, or you could have taken your time to read the documentation and find that out on yourself. No, the real thing was that Parksie was giving you part of his very life in what he was telling you. Every thought he would express, every experience he would share was not just code, but the time he spent working on it, the very same time he lived.
And that is the main reason why someone who now says "But he just showed me how to avoid an eternal loop" feels really bad when they know about his death. It is because deep within ourselves we know it was not just knowledge, but a part of his essence that we would assimilate, a part of his life we were living with him.
For now, some words to comfort us would be "he really lives in us", because whenever we are applying something he taught us is like reliving that part of his life, whenever we are following an old advice he gave us he is living in and with us. Whenever we see a rubber duck we are acknowing he lived, and overall, we are acknowing the great person he was.
So, saying "Parksie was" is not accurate at all... Parksie is and Parksie will be because of us, because of all the people who were blessed by the touch of his soul. As a teacher (and master even in some ways), Parksie didn't even leave this valley of tears just like that... He left us with a lesson, his last and ultimate lesson we must learn to honor him.
Parksie taught us in the end that we don't have to wait for telling someone how much we love him/her, that we don't have to wait for someone to show or tell us their grieves, we have to ask and care for them even if we believe them to be happy. We don't have to wait for making happy those around us... We have to do it everyday, everytime, every minute.
Parksie still teaches us from wherever he is, let him enter your heart and allow this last lesson touch your very existence. The lesson of sharing life with all around you and not just knowledge is courtesy from our beloved friend and teacher, Mike Parks.
For you, Mike! :mike:

Which timezone? Or to make it easier, how much difference to GMT?
I can't remember where people live.
Edit And talking about lighting the candle time.
Merri, they are in the UK.
Tec-Nico: You sure have a way with words. That was just beautiful.:thumb:
And so very true too.
No one ever really leaves.
Peace...:duck:
Indeed.
Thank you, guys. I just spoke from the bottom of my heart.
Does anyone have a postal mailing address for Mike's parents/brothers/sisters? If so please PM me.
