You can see it that way if you want. I'm just intrigued as to what your solution to the great problems of American 'cultural insensitivity' is. Other than learning Spanish, which is of course a huge step in the right direction.Quote:
i love the way this has become a personal attack on me and not the actual arguments.
Well this is true in that you haven't really made any points.Quote:
besides no one said you had to agree with them, and quite frankly i have not made any baseless points.
Well I read it from the first post; how far back should I be going?Quote:
following the discussion -- i think that is the problem of you recent posters-- you havent read the previous post that lead to this discussion
Hehe... you really don't know how much it makes me chuckle when I read that ;) Lets just say you're making some unfounded assumptions about me.Quote:
-- it was initially-- about american cultural insensativty. which again my point is being proved by you lovely volunteers even now.
Yeah, because spelling isn't really even that important anyway! :rolleyes:Quote:

but this was not an argument about grammar, syntax.. you know..
totally irrelevant.
(my spelling could use some help though.)
BTW I have been reading your posts, and it seems to me that in the area of spelling, grammar and syntax, spelling is your strong suit! :p
That's right, Harry is a gypsy! :eek:Quote:

like i said b4. i know my POV is an unpopular one since it directly challenges a majority's POV-- but I didnt really expect to find any minorities in here anyway.. it's kind of like being a chicken in a jackal pit (SP CHK)
hmmQuote:

a) you just disproved yourself in the very same sentence
b) it is highly relevant. You are dissing us for not learning other languages, I think I have the right to criticise you for bad English.
I'm American. When you say "Americans <fill in the blan>" then you are talking about me.Quote:

relax this isnt about u.
but no, I don't feel this is personally directed towards me, but I have to deal with the repercusions of this sort of thing. Every year I have to attend long, boring "Give minorities more rights than you have" classes, etc. and I'm really fed up with all the whiners. Nobody promised anybody anything except equal rights which all Americans have. But no one promised anyone that we would all bend over backwards to help them. If they want something badly enough, they'll work it out. I won't stand in their way, and I'll even help if I can, but I'm not going to feel guilty about not understanding why July 18th is a sacred day to them. I'm not stopping them from doing what they want, but I'm not closing my store for it either.
The United States doesn't have a majority.Quote:

You've got a solution though, right?Quote:

Actually, you never EXPLICITLY said that learning Spanish was the solution. However, you did say it implicitly which is why everyone is confused as to what your solution is.Quote:

It's a good thing I'm not paranoid or I might think that was a personal attack on me and not the actual arguments.Quote:

So far, your point seems to have been 'Americans are not learning about cultures different to their own, which is a problem' and 'we should all learn Spanish'. You still haven't said why this is a problem though, or what your solution is, except for learning Spanish.
shows how much you know:Quote:

Of the nation’s 281.4 million residents, 216.9 million were white;

And why would this be beneficial? What makes it worth the effort?Quote:

Wow, over 150 posts and the only thing that's been resolved in what Guam looks like. I think we deserve a drink.
:)
What about those guys at national geographic? They seem to know about other cultures.. :)
Maybe I'll try saying that again:Quote:

Well, I stand corrected. The last information that I had said that every race in the US was under 50%. I guess it was wrong and so was I.
However, on the bright side, we have a democracy.
Democracy = Majority Rules.
Majority = White
White = English
I'm not sure how to declare those as VB objects, but I'm just the management. We have underpaid illegal immigrants who do the actual coding.
sometimes i wonder.Quote:
