I get the fact that half the fun is in preparing for the contest that never starts . . .
I think Kovan organized this competition, so it's his thing, but if there ever were to be a competition, I do have an idea that could possibly get the ball rolling (or not)
I don't know if it's ever been done but it seemed like an original idea to me . . .
Have an Internet treasure hunt. The forum would be a perfectly impartial judge of who tracked it down first because there's no way you can fudge who posted it first.
Here's an example:
Okay teams, here is your mission. Bring me back the English translation of the Rosetta Stone, in it's entirety.
You'd have to post the posting time of the next mission well in advance so each team would be able to make sure they were represented in the hunt.
I get the feeling you guys are having more fun organizing teams and polling for captains than actually competing . . . it's just an idea to kick around.
I'm up for joining whichever team may need the extra help. Not so good with the backend, but interfaces and stringing code together are tasks easily done blindfolded. Project management is also an upside.
...as is making my limited abilities sound much better than they really are.

And you must of course have proof of Australian Citzenship, a passport wont help you here as it may have been forged, but the ability to sing Waltzing Matilda after drinking 15 schooners will be sufficient.
