The options menu has been revamped in the version I have - it'll look funky cool in the next release.
Also, I think there's a flaw in the building construction section. Again - it's fixed in the next version.
When you start a new game it should automatically ask you if you want to follow a quick tutorial.
If it's not, could you post your Options.ini up on here for me to look at please?
When you uploaded it, you probably used your version of the INI, which may be messed up in this area. Also, I can never get it to save the fact that I don't what the tutorial to come up every time.
well, i finally had a look at your game, and i'm quite impressed.
very nice graphics in places.
i'm not quite sure how it works totally, but i get the general idea of it - it's a red alert/civilisation type game yes?
oh, and errr, you might wanna rethink the speech sound-effects - "<crackle> ... Warehouse ... <crackle>" :D :D :D

Did it reset the resolution properly after completion?
Re the sounds: Yeah, they are crap. But I don't have a sound studio and I lowered the quality to save on the download size (as people were crying about it).

I found the problem with it not saving that and I think I've fixed it now (when I revamped the options screen).
I really need to tie up the loose end on the next version so I can get it uploaded...

Eventually we'll replace the sounds with some proper voice actors or something that doesn't sound quite so cheap / crackly / "broad northerner", but for now we've got something in place. Same goes for some of the graphics etc.

Music's definitely on the cards for the future, we just wanted some structure to plug everything into. We've got ideas for a complex music engine to ensure the sounds don't get too repetitive, as the games will probably take many hours to play.

Sorry guys, we just hit a few hiccups each. At least we give you an ETA for the next release instead of keeping you hanging on.
Theres currently enough stuff in for a new release, but some of the loose ends need tidying up.

With regards to the pods text, that'll be changing. I only whacked in those descriptions as a place holder so it actually said something.
You can also change them in the scripts (check the Arbiters script).

The new tech tree is almost in (without graphics though) - I imagine they'll be coming next time.
The particle engine is in, and monster generation is in. Ok, they don't do a lot - but they're there... :)
The MFD is also working well now, along with the faction might screen. To see this in action start a game with a couple of players and cycle through the MFD screens (by clicking on it). There is a button to toggle between game info and MFD functionality.

This Sunday, all being well. Behemoth's coming round and we normally get a lot done when the pair of us are together.

To see the ranged combat in use, open fire on one of your buildings. The RMV has been given guns for testing - it won't have them normally.
The particle engine can be tinkered with using the scripts (sfx.ini) but we wouldn't advise this as you'll have no idea what you're tinkering with for the moment.
#The scorched earth bit means that when you shoot at a mech, the ground it's on gets damaged and becomes pockmarked. At the moment the graphics are practically invisible - Behemoth will be having a look at this soon.
*We need help with the tech tree. If you run the game at 800*600 you'll see the tech tree takes up about half the screen. It consists of 2 tech 'groups' (4 lines). There are another 3 to fit on, (6 lines) and they don't fit. How can we make them fit - any suggestions?

OK, the download is corrupt and doesn't seem to contain all the scripts. Including the one that verifies the file's it's supposed to have :rolleyes:
Otherwise it would have told us which file was missing - I'll upload the new version now - sorry about that....
OK, the problem was down to ARC not storing the files correctly.
I've switched to RAR and it's done it ok, but it's now a slightly bigger download.
I've re-uploaded the file, let me know how you get on please... :)

Ok, because u almost died without comment, here u go :
1. In the last version i tolled u about a bug in the 'slurp settings' screen (screenshot included), its still there.

2. How much mem does sentience suck ? it sucked me dry, 0 % system resources, sorry no screenshot due to crash, i have 512 mb ram...
3. Why does Sentience respond very slow to mouse movement ?
(no screenshot), my mouse started flickering (is this english/understandable ?) and responded very slowly.
4. After 3 when i entered the 'slurp settings' screen the resolution just changed from 800x600 to 1024x768, not that it is a problem but it kinda looks strange.
5. after 4 the mouse problem solved itself and i recieved an error when trying to make a screenshot, insufficient mem...
6. SenLoader is still visable when sentience activates, i think the windows should go away when sentience starts.
7. This is getting funny, every time u put up a new version my list grows longer and longer :eek:
8. The option menu should move a bit faster (my opinion)
9. Go ahead and say u don't understand any of what i just said, i know you understand at least SOME of it...
10. Is the old 'sentience' still online ? (wanna try it on a win xp comp)

I have already tried the new one, and I have none of the problems you had (P3 1Ghz, 256MB Mem, 9GB HD Free, ect.). I guess that the out-of mem problem is either something else running, or a problem from having too much memory (lol:rolleyes:lol very unlikely). When did you last defrag, scan-disk, reg-clean, and virus check your system?

Defrag - this takes more then 2 days here, haven't done this for about 4 months, but i installed sentience on a new recently installed hd
Regclean - about 2 weeks ago when i tried to make my registry a bit 'smaller'
virus check - auto detection is always online, does a total hd sweep once a week
Behemoth : i am not makeing the problems up, they really are there :mad:
detail : in the test before the resolution reset i tried that funny rendering thing again
If defrag takes 2 days, how the hell much HD space do you have?:confused:

I know the slurp screen still isn't fixed, most of my time has been spent on the particle engine.
I think Gaming's saying that he's had none of the technical problems you've been having (slow mouse etc).
Good comment re hiding the SenLauncher, I'll try and implement that before the next release.
Try and close down everything else running before you run Sentience. I may help your technical issues.
