Yes! All our work has paid off. Here's a little post that has some "sentimental value".
Its wonderful that we've come this far! From ideas to sketches to code to game! It's a wonderful process, but the best thing about it all is that you guys didn't give up (well Psy you're the exception but you were very hardworking when you were still on the team :)), and you kept through it.

Do you want to work on ToW again? Since Edit4o7 was cancelled it appears you don't have any loose ends to tie up, so do you want to continue working on the OpenGL port?
I wont be adding anything new until after the release. I have run into some SERIOUS problems moving over to a release mode build(no input is the big one). This might take until release to get working again, but I wont miss the deadline (I can release a debug build if I have to).

I am going to end up releasing a debug build of the engine, then I am going to do some playing around with the guts of the engine. Im afraid that I am getting lost in my own engine, and need to refamiliarize myself, as well as do some major renovation (I will porbably remove this HANDLE thing, as It is becoming a debug nightmare). As this progresses, I will try to get some decent documentation going, so progress will be a bit slower for a few weeks.

Create a shortcut to divloader.exe, then open it's properties, and add "uidemo" to the end of the command line (without the quotes). It should end up looking like:

The one you sent me had a shortcut like that. Sorry. I also tried using the 95, 98, and NT4 SP5 compatibility layers but they didn't work. :(

MMk. Im going to send you a new system.dll. Just extract it into the main directory. It wont fix the error, but it will give me a bit more info. Also, if you can, there should be a file "divldr.log" in your C:\ drive. If its not 0 bytes, upload it here, or email it to me at [email protected].

We can do it in Winsock, or DPlay. The real question is UDP, or TCP/IP. UDP is fast, but you get packet loss, TCP/IP is slower, but you get the guarentee that the packet gets there.
Sas, Im still waiting for more input from my new DLL. i want to make the christmas release. I am hoping that This is the only problem (its not loading the texture correctly, I need to know why).

New Debug DLL to test, Sas. This one is going to dumb a whole bunch of 0 byte *.tex files into the demo directory. Either zip them up, and send them, or list them in a post.

It created a 0 byte close.tex.
I guess DPlay would be easier. But winsock would give us more control over what happens when etc and perhaps would be better. Also, how would it work, a central server or would one person whos playing the game host and the other connect ? u mentioned UDP and TCP/IP, does DPlay use both or UDP or TCP ??
It really depends on you Psy, because we're already going to have to package DirectX with it (I hope we have some sort of liscense :D) so we can use DPlay, or Winsock (because it will be on Windows).
And for the arcitecture there will be a master list of servers on our website but the actual games will be hosted on the peoples computers (speed isn't the greatest issue here).

What I want in the end is for each team to have their own theme, then subtle variations that will come in depending on how many enemies are on the screen, death, victory, etc.

hmm, ok, i will look at the mp3 when i get a break. MY main problem at the moment is whether DPlay spans a new thread or not when a connection comes in, if it doesnt then iwill go for winsock. if it does then Direct X is the one of choice.
My lil mp3 would have to have some kind of bass in it as in like guitar or something coz im a keen rocker / nu metaller kinda guy

Windows Update is pretty slow right now so it'll be ~10 minutes until I've rebooted and am able to go into the demo.

Oh and it runs at 100fps on my machine.
The fire disappears because I reuse the emitter for the fountain when you click to move the unit. I can fix that if you want. Did you open the control menu, and use the Move button?

Yeah, I can do that, but the next demo is pretty far off. I've been really crunching on this one, and my parents dont share my enthusiasm =). I have to cut down on the time i spend on this thing (but not so much... I will still be working). But yes, I can do that, as well as the camera stuff.

Okay, that's alright.... Hmmm. I've got an idea. Why don't we have a code base online that you two can share your code with? Simply your different versions of the project files online, and after modifying it you would upload your new version.

i got a project in on like the 7th of january for skool so i will be working hard on that (and skateboarding), after that im a bit more free to code un til bout february till feb 16th when i will be getitng another project done, but after that im all free free free.
It will probably be easier for me (or you) to hold all of the source, so that it can be checked over before adding it to the project. Once that is done, it can be integrated. I want to have every sub system and component to be tested before anything happens, so that things are safe and sound.
