As to the three basic rights. I hate to say this, but the fighting in Isreal isn't about basic rights, it is about Muslims wanting sole control of Jerusalem. I'm sorry, but the Jews are old than the Muslims, and they have kicked your ass.

As to this bit of history you refer to, I don't know, but... the Jews are not historically known as very aggressive, territorial people. They didn't kick the Christians out. They were slaves to the Pharohs for many generations.

I don't see any reason why they wouldn't let some illiterate, ex-con wander around the streets of anywhere on his quest to find "god". I can't recall the Jews having gone out of their way to squash any young religion. What is so significant about this instance?

I don't care about repetition. I don't care who owns what now and who owed it when. The point is, they had it first, and they have retaken it. If you want it, you have to go on a conquest for it. There is no great injustice in them taking Isreal. Sorry, but you are boohooing for nothing.

I believe that I am better informed than you on the issue of the US military and Iraq. I also have an informed opinion on OPEC. I am not as passionate or emotionally involved and therefore can make rational and valid points which you seem to disregard off-hand. I think that you should at least read and try to understand other points of view instead of suggesting that I stay out of the discussion, that is merely a suggestion though.

As to the issue of Islam, Muslim, I did not nor offer an opinion nor try to enter into that discussion at all. This thread's topic is Iraq-US Conflict NOT Islam vs. Judaism.

We were having somewhat of a discussion (well, as close as you could come thereto, considering). But that was a few pages back. It's unfortunate when racism, ignorance, and stubborness take hold and ruin it for everyone.

The bigger issue is that Iraq qanted to take kuwait becuase it would control some ridiculous percentage of the worlds Oil supply. Basically iraq invaded because Iraq holds a large amount of the worlds oil deposits already. Kuwait also does. If Iraq tookover kuwait it would hold a pretty good percentage of the worlds oil.
And as stated by Katie industrialized nations need oil.
So Oil = power.
If Iraq managed to takeover Kuwait it would hold a lot of Power over the industrialized nations.

Lol ya but the US makes up the largest portion of all UN and NATO operations alike. In the Gulf War i beleive they were 1/3 of NATO forces or something. People sometimes forget the other allies.

I'm not saying it's a good way to spead thousands of pounds, but it pays to remember.

Absolutely, yes!!!!!! We need the F-22. Our fighter force is becoming antiquated and has been updated as much as is possible. The F-22 is an awesome platform and will keep our airmen out of harms way while providing the most technologically advanced weapons system and fighting capability. It also pays my paycheck.

I didn't forget that you guys are involved as much as we are but for some reason the thread author chose to target the US (racist reasons, I suspect) so I was defending our position. I figured some Brit would be better able to defend their position than I would be.
