Hey! You made 2K posts! Now you can also become a SPAMMER!
Who made 2K posts? I have the lowest amount of posts on this page and I'm on 2400.
Remix has a Custom User Title. That's what/who I was commenting on/to.
ive had 2000 for like 2 months now
Well, I noticed your title. Time to change it!
Nah im good ;D
Sorry to come and spoil the party. Unfortunaly the links in your sigs with referral ID's have to go. Linking to the sread Firefox site is still ok though as long as you take out the referral.
I have edited the first post. If you wish to promote Firefox please modify any referral links you may have to point to another site (I suggest getfirefox.com).
Got a new laptop with win 2k installed on it. Firefox works like a breeze. Need to know the extensions for tabbed browsing. Please help.

Great to hear how many people have converted to Firefox :)
my signature itself has convert a lot of all poor ignorant IE users IE users to Firefox....hehe....the best browser wins!!
Spybot found 146 viruses on my sister's computer. I reinstalled IE, but it crashed when I opened it complaining about USER32.DLL.
I installed Fx, and Windows Update started working again, loading about 60 updates! Stil had problems with IE, but showed her how to use Fx, and she seemed to like it.
I told her that all her kids should use would be Fx, and the reasons why.
I also removed LimeWire at her request.
if FF is not good..IBM will not enforce hundreds/thousands of its employee to uninstall IE and install FF...good huh?
dglienna, spybot doesn't find viruses afaik, "only" spyware, malware and the like.
Limewire's not bad. Pretty slow UI, but it works OK.
Seems every day I hear more stories in the media about organisations converting to Fx, or at least offering the option. A few schools seem to be doing it which is great.
OK. But I scheduled a VIRUS scan anyways. :)Quote:

Yep, i've converted myself to Fx, i only now use IE at my friends requests (web developing, scripting, etc.) i have just installed the portable version of Fx onto my 512Mb Memory stick and i'm looking forward to using it at college :thumb:
In case you haven't heard:

I have converted tons of people to come to firefox, the only sucky part is that the more people that move to firefox, the more virus writers, and security issues it will have. People seem to hit whatever the most popular browser is.
Converted my college course leader :thumb:
w00t!
Converted my best mate :D
Luckily Firefox is fixed within a week of a major security issue and not within half a year :) And with the new trouble free automatic update... *drools* It updated my beta and I just needed to click "oh, you little furry thing did it all for me! *hug*" button to confirm restart.Quote:

Well, at least they are taking it seriously, rebuilding it from scratch  Can't see M$ doing that with MSN :DQuote:

I had to resurrect this thread (seeing as the IE thread has somehow arisen from the dead :p). Recently been doing some XHTML/CSS work and realised that Internet Explorer doesn't support CSS 2 or XHTML at all. Imagine my face when I open my beautiful hand-coded work in IE. <div> blocks scattered all over the page at random instead of displaying as tables. Urgh.
I cannot believe Microsoft force this load of crap on all new Windows/computer users and let them believe that it is the way to view the WWW. It is so bad that if it has to be shipped with Windows at all it should come with a warning. "This product is a critical security risk and is incapable of displaying standards-compliant web pages correctly."
And to believe that there are those that actually believe IE is a superior browser. I challenge those people to show me an aspect of IE that is superior to Firefox. And don't say ActiveX or any of that buggy virus-laden rubbish.
Get Firefox. You'll never look back, especially if you've seen any attempts at modern pure-standards web coding rendered in IE :D
Edit:Just installed 1.5. Not a great difference, but noticeable improvements to the UI. Tab Mix wasn't compatible, still can move tabs around but not sure whether that is a feature of 1.5 or another extension I have ("Duplicate Tab"). UI also seems more responsive.
Just imagine if all the work that has gone into Fx in the past few years had also gone into IE - then we'd actually have a browser war. As it is, there is absolutely no competition. Firefox the hands down winner - congratulations to the Mozilla crew on a great product! :D
Hear hear!
http://www.mozilla.fi/ - on this page, IE doesn't support position : fixed; (without using a hack that limits what you can do). Fixed position is actually a pretty good feature and it is a real shame IE doesn't support it without using bugs of IE to get around it.
Also on this page: http://www.mozilla.fi/wiki/Firefox - IE doesn't support the dropdown menu in the top bar (which is done in CSS). This is yet another feature IE should support. I don't want to use JavaScript just to display a simple drop down menu.
Other than that I managed to make IE work fine without using any hacks. Even IE 5.5 works fine. I'm getting pretty good in this stuff.
Penagate: it is now a native Firefox feature.
Wow, so it is! Sweet! :DQuote:

Just upgraded to 1.5.
Looks good. I must say I removed the 1.5 beta, because it screwed up when I installed a theme (that was compatible with 1.5 beta :( )
Join the flames!

Before anyone else mentions it in this thread...
Flock sucks. It is a pointless, bloated, pathetic, misguided attempt at software development. And unlike many other people that bash Flock, I have tried it.
It is a cheap rip off of Firefox, with a glossy theme (oh, yay), the ability to "star" and "tag" webpages, which we all know is the revolution of the internet, and integrated support for various "web services" with an apparent hate for the letter "e". Oh, and integration of said integration with other integrated online services.
We can now, gasp, BLOG, using, wait for it, our browsers! Of course that's nothing remotely like what we were doing before, is it. The principle behind Flock and the rest of the "Web 2.0 services" revolves around enabling us to share every last minute detail of our lives with thousands of other "Web 2.0" fanatics who are sharing every last minute detail of their lives. The fact that spending all your time sharing every last minute detail of your life with the rest of the world means that you won't actually have a life is, of course, irrelevant.
Oh and it appears huge fonts, kindergarten colour schemes primarily composed of bright pink and blue randomly applied to various parts of webpages, and an inability to explain concepts correctly are the new fad. Yay, let's be happy.
I think this quote sums it up:Please, spare us.Quote:
Send love and postcards to <address> Send email to <address> and tag your posts with flock!
</bash> :D
P.S. Google is taking over our lives.
- there now I feel much better :D
The best way to ignore something and keep it less known is to not talk about it.
what are we talking about again?
Me ranting about nothing :)
ahh.. i gotcha. Ya know, Foamy the squirrel does that quite well...
I havn't really converted anyone yet, but that is because many people I know already use Firefox.
Also, here's some awesome news, Google Adsense is now letting you put Firefox buttons on your site, and everytime someone downloads Firefox using that button you'll get a dollar! So now you can make money while converting people.
I've put my referral button for Fx on my blog, historium.motime.com
it has been 2 years since i moved over to firefox and i never looked back .i must have installed firefox in every system i use to browse the net right from my dads pc to the net cafe pcs till my college systems ,i have no count how many !!
i s it not great that a single browser runs on so many different OSes without any problem and so small in size(3~4mb) .just look at ie6(more than 30 mb in size) and still got a ****load of bugs in it!! :D
:thumb: :thumb: live long firefox!! :thumb: :thumb:
:thumb: :thumb: live long free software foundation :thumb: :thumb:
:thumb: :thumb: live long linux :thumb: :thumb:
tux_newbie, where are you getting 3~4MB? Right on http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/ it says the installer is 5.0MB, my one installation is about 17.6MB and the other is about 15.1MB. Are you refering to the installer for a past version?
I love Firefox! I like its small size, allowing me to use it anywhere, still leaving plenty of room on my little 64MB USB key.
Does anyone know how to block off some of its features, specifically access to the Connections Settings? I ask because I think one of the impediments stopping my school from switching is that the Connection Settings can be used to get around their web filtering.
(Yay! 0th post!)
With 4 tabs open, Fx is using 65K of memory. It takes a little longer to open than IE, but I suspect that it is because IE always has some parts open (like explorer). Fx can get quite big with extensions and themes, though.
yeah it can. With one tab, I'm at 31k.
Memory usage = Efficiency
Less memory usage = More paging = Less efficiency
:)
Setup for the en-us version of Firefox 1.5 is about 5 MiB. Other localised builds may vary, but not by very much I'd think.
either way, Fx rules the world.
