It would be Diablos (Pronunced: Deabloes [this is the equivinet English writting]). The puralisation is the same in Spanish as in English. (At least as far as I know) I am only in my first year of Spanish (and only a month into it). In case you didn't know, Diablo should be pronunced Deablo. The 'e' is long, and the 'a' is short, but pronuced. ↓ → ↑ ← ½ ¼ ¿ ♂ Ω ≈ ô ₧

The foreign language names seem a bit hackneyed, and obviously spanish. Try and figure out something that conveys a sense of, perhaps, insignificance, or some other emotion that expresses the number of players (since its an MMORPG). Grandeur, might be kinda nifty, expressing a sense of herioism, but at the same time, it brings to mind the first part of Delusions of Grandeur. =).

As to my name Fuerza, it means force, and we could just have the main goal of the to find a weapon named Fuerza (have it one of the super unique items, and only appears from killing one monster). Once someone finds it, they go back to town, then the monster respawns. The weapon could always suck too (just worth a lot due to rarity). It could also let you complete a quest, then it disappers and you get an advanctadge (such as more stat, skill points, a cool title, ect).

I think that if the name is just one or two words, a pure spanish name would work (the count doesn't include words such as, a, an, the, ect). I also think that most english speakers should be able to guess what the name is (in english, this is such as Diablo).

I still think that Fuerza would work. Like I said before, all we would need would be to place a weapon (or another type of item) in the named Fuerza (and it would have to be a major goal). Fuerza Online works too.

How much we need to worry about the languages, depends on how much we wish to support (are we going to make the in English, Spanish, German, Chinese, Japenise, ect? or are we just going to make it in English. The less lanugages we use, the less likely that the name means one thing in one language, and another in some other langauge. In my opioninal Fuerza sounds good, to a spanish speaker it would sound OK, but from what /\/\isanThr0p says, to a german speaker it would sound terriable.

Ok, you've started ticking over. You've spent 2 pages tossing names back and forth - stop for a moment and think whats going to be in the game. What is the plot? Where is it set? Eg a journey through hell could be "Inferno". A plot to overthrow a tyrant warlod could be "Reign of Terror". A game involving combat with the undead could be "Armies of the Necromancer" or "Night of the unliving".
The most important part right ow is to establish exactly what the game is about, perhaps even a basic plot, and fit the name around that.
Next, you want to rename this thread ;)

Flame_211, I think that the links on the webpage are too hard to find (due to style). They really should be a differnt color from the text (or have some other defining mark). Such as what I do:
text: red (FF0000)
headers: white (FFFFFF)
unvistited links: blue (0000FF)
active/hover links: green (00FF00)
visited links: purple (FF00FF)
Such that the syle sheet looks like this:

In this way, the titles stand out, the links are easily sepertated from the text. When ever I look at the page, I can't tell for sure what text is links, which are plain text, which pages I have visited, and it looks like the news is a header, and the headers are news... (the last two are due to the fact that white on black stands out more then red on black) This is most noticed when I think that the Advice Members are links, and the Affiliates are plain text.
Although, sience you are doing the webpage it is up to you. But I know that if I was to visit the page, I would quickly leave again.
It seems that you are adding names instead of removing them =). Like Sas said, you need to remember that it IS an online game, and so there probably wont be much more then a back story. Keep the name as vague as possible =).

I have a few more names I have come up with. Heres the logic:
Since our game is going to be about battle and bravery, not so much about a plot; perhaps the player should discover what the plot is as he goes along. Make his own adventure. Maybe the player can develope his character with the story line he chooses to follow. Perhaps an oppertunity to kill a villager comes up, and he takes it.. maybe his character goes towards the evil side. On the other hand, if he helps someone, he becomes a less evil person. Kind of like your pet in Black and White. We don't have to have a plot if this is a online game, we can just have random quests which follow the map, or location.
If we choose to make a player to create his own plot, we cannot favour good in any quests. Maybe certain weapons should be devoted to the dark warriors, that give extra strengh or attribute for an evil person. And good weapons to other champions. I also think it might be a good idea, for players to make their own quests. Lets say, there is a questing place u can go to( i know sounds cheesy) and have players put down a quest, which where offer a $ reward that comes out directly out of their money supply , and is cashed when other players complete this quest. They can say anything like:
- Kill player John. Smith and bring me his equipment and body for a cash reward of 50,000$
or something like that....
(I will be making a map shortly).

I think we should write a story before we get into anything else. Even a small one to start out... (eg. u crash at sea, and u find urself stranded on a certain newbie continent where all the new players land. As u get stronger, and get more $ u can travel somewhere else using various transportations that cost $ or simply walk (this might increase ur chance of attack).
Anyhow, here are my ideas. And no offense please, but I think names like "Reign of Terror" or "Blood Bath" are not very original (but still very good, just over used... dont u guys?).

If we go with that idea, we could have some pre-setquests that only the "good" warriors would do (such as removing evil from an area), some that only "evil" warriors would do (such as stealing items from pre-defined merchantents, and bringing them to the chef bad-dude), some that both might do (don't know for sure) and you get a reward that is good for both "good" and "evil" players. Such as a sword that subtrats life from "good", but add life to "evil" warriors, but does the oppisite for another property of the player (such as mana, stength, ect).
I also like the idea of the player defined quests. We would need to make the idea very simple though. Most players wouldn't use it if it was hard to create a quest (such as using text). Possibly something where it has parts:
Objective Kill Player, Bring Player to Place, Bring Weapon to Me, ect
Object (player/item/ect) PlayerName/Weapon Type/Uniquie Item Name
Reward Item/Money
But basicly a screen which has options like that. This way creating a quest would be easy, plus it would be much harder to cheat people out of the reward. Using an advanced system like this, you could also have it create the text for the quest (such as Kill player John. Smith and bring me his equipment and body for a cash reward of $50,000.)
I think that the player should have to fight to get from one town to another. Basicly, to get from Land 1 to Land 2, you must travel though the wilderness fighting the monsters. If we do this, we would need to have transporters (using a long forgot magic) in between.
I also fell that we should make it possible for the players to create their own servers (although they would need a good internet connections, and good computers to allow a lot of players. All I know is that I play easily customized (such as Starcraft) much more. Such as I have been playing Starcraft for over 4 years, while with Diablo 2, I have only played for a few (2-)years, and I am already bored of it (and have been for 6+ months).

I agree with everyithing. The quest system sounds good. But, I don't think players should make their own servers... because, how would they store characters and such on there? I mean, I'm sure our server would allow characters to be created on their machines, therefore allowing them to be hacked. Haven't you played Diablo I? ;)
Also, if players are allowed to make their own servers, how will the online characters be transfered? I dont think its safe to have them connect to our server and download all the characters.
Allow them to make their own server, but they have a seperate set of stored characters. Therefore, the only connection would be the name, and the ability to update though the service. I figure we might as well do this. If we don't people will hack the to do it anyways... Basicly, if the players connect to our server, it would be sercure, and uncustomizable. But if they use their own server, it would be insercure and customizable. And if they use someone elses server, it would be insercure and uncustomizable. Incase you didn't know, their have been non-blizzard battle net servers sience Diablo 1.
The one major problem with this idea is that if we allow player-ran servers, it would be harder to prevent copying.
Blizzard is cracking down on non-bnet servers =).
You might as well go ahead and let people create thier own servers, since you arent going to be selling this thing (i think...). It would be fun for lan parties and such.

I think that we sould allow only single-player, TCI/IP or IPX/SPX (lan; whichever protacal we use), sercure online (our server), and seperate servers (these are player allowed servers).
Also, if you open up a server, then it would also allow your computer to be more eaisly hacked, therefore reducing the number of people which would do it.
Also, how will they find all the non-b.net servers? No matter how hard they try, they are sure to miss some. Plus, more will keep poping up until they are able to make it impossible to do.

The pages of www.diabloii.net and www.warcraftiii.net give the details of those two games (Diablo 2 and Warcraft 3). Along with the blizzard stat guides (www.. /diablo2/ and www.. /war3/ and www.. /scc/) I am not sure about the SC one.
Does anyone know why it does that? I have checked everything I can think of on my comp (I'm running XP), but I can't find anything that stops that (it also doesn't like to run java scripts).
