BTW: I never sided with the Palestinians or other Arabs on any issues, but I used to feel sorry for the poverty and misery of large numbers of the ordinary people in those cultures.

STT, why do you say that it is ignorance that is the source of Guv's opinions? He has been there, seen it and spoken to some of the people directly involved. Not to mention that he has obviously been around a lot longer and (from his other posts on this forum) learnt a great deal more about life than you or I or almost everyone else on this forum. What makes you think that it is his suppised ignorance, of all things, that is the problem?

Perhaps your accusations are misplaced.

I don't see any need for hollow threats here. Nobody is going to do anything, you're not making yourself look big and hard, just give it a rest. Nobody is going to be impressed. It just makes you look puerile. The same is true of Kovan but that really goes without saying, and there's no point in trying to talk to him in a rational manner anyway, I've tried it many times before with no success on even the most simple points.

If you think the point of view Guv has presented is unreasonable, or erronous in some way, then explain yourself. Name-calling isn't going to make anyone sympathetic to your ideas.

It seems to me that neither Arafat nor Sharon want a peaceful settlement.

Arafat will loose power and prestige if the conflict. there is no way he could run a normal government. The deal available a year or so ago was the best Arafat could expect, but he wanted to continue the conflict.

Sharon would rather humiliate, exile, or kill Afafat than have a peaceful settlement. I alwyas thought that politicains only cared about remaining in power. Sharaon would probably be willing to resign if he could stick it to Arafat.

Someone care to explain me why muslims feel the need to destroy and burn down property in a country 3000 km away from the fray ?

I can understand that you want to show your anger but that does not mean you have to go about and destroy things.

Extra hours, extra men, extra protection, damage costs ... who do you think will pay for all that ? That's right ! Your average Belgian who hasn't got anything to do with the whole situation.

Apart from Belgian papers, very limited

Same is happening in France though : synagogue attacked, jewish bus burned out.

Here 2 synagogues were attacked, 3000 protesters against Israel getting unruly, breaking stuff, getting in police battles, water cannons, the works.

Now if some of these adament muslims could explain why they would do that sort of thing here but no ...

And don't give me that "it's a global battle" crap. This is Belgium, Europe and we didn't do anything wrong okay ?

I know some people from the middle east and some arabs and jews, but even jews right here are condemning acts of Israel .
Lots of he people out there (middle east) lives in houses not tents :D :D :D and most of the ones I know are highly educated and very civilized ,of course there must be some bad people in each society but that does never explains Israel acts , that's my definition of terrorism which if you see it on reality, you'll know why some people bombs themselves:eek: after Israeli soldiers had killed his or her family in front of his/her eyes with no mercy ?
