Yes. Genome@home supports dual processor machines. You just need to run two copies of Genome@home, each installed into its own directory.

It took me about 15 minutes just to get to 50% on my P733. And that's only 1 of 30. I don't think i'm gonna score lots of proteins this way.

Well, I suppose you'd use the same process as in multiple processors. Install it two or three times in different directories, and run two or three copies at a time. That'll take more resources, get more done

Hi Everyone,
How are ur "Genies" :D doing? I have already created 17 !! Anyway i have a question, what does the option "Run off Network" do, at home i have my 3 machine networked (PIII 800, PII500 & P166), now can i use all 3 of them together through the network or do i have to run 3 instance of the Genome@home seperately.

OK, so I'm new to the Genome thing, but I'd say we've got to take a crack at those Mac guys.
We can't be surpassed by a bunch of guys who are too slow to realize they paid more for less power and in return all they got was a candy colored package.

If you guys would read the readme :D you would discover that "run off network" just makes it run and create genes, and not try to send or recieve new data.
Oh, and about those mac guys,
somebody is cheating or something. There's a user ("redwood group") that has over 1000 genes. No mac could get to 1/100th of that in any sane amount of time ;) That's probably what happens when you have an sysadmin at a school using labs of iMacs and g4s at night to crunch genes.
Speaking of which, someone by me might do that, watch out for an "ashwaubenon" or "AHS" team. (don't worry, i'm still for vBulletin, although I don't see my name up there. I did 2 genes)

I was wondering if anyone else noticed this. When I use Run off Network, it does the work faster. When I just use the Genome@Home without the run off network, it goes slower. Does anyone else notice this?
PS. Does anyone know how to get this to work with AnalogX's Proxy? I can't seem to get it to work, and I have two other computers that are just sitting on my network. :(

Thats just the systems in Laptop and the newer computer lab...
Throw in next years laptops (probably another 30 or so Cel 550~600), the hunkajunkers (I lost count...we'll say they add up to 3.5Ghz or so), and all the administration computers (office, servers, etc) being another 3.5Ghz, we're up to:
47.24 + 3.5 + 3.5 + 16.5 = 70.74Ghz+
(Don't forget to throw in my 800 and 550...just for kicks :) )

Wait a minute, I'm assuming this whole thing is going to take a while to decode the entire genome? That would be good, since I'm on summer vacation right now and about 70Ghz of CPU power is lying unused at my school... :rolleyes:
But, come September hopefully I'll get some set up.
