You are right, except that I have not trolled anybody or otherwise directed barbs at anyone in this thread. All I did was admitted that I liked trolling and shared a bit of history. I could understand if she was a victim of my trolling but she wasn't, yet she felt the need to launch that venomous passive aggressive diatribe at me. I originally intended to respond to her with some dismissive cheeky one liner but she seemed genuinely bothered so I felt that a dismissive one-liner would have been a little disrespectful hence I opted to respond seriously to her. It seemed to me that her own solipsism was undermining her ability to properly put things in perspective. What she needs to understand is that she cannot allow her emotions to get the better of her just because things don't always conform to her ideal world view. She has no right to demand that her standards be adopted by everyone she encounters. That idea reeks of way too much self importance. So I trolled a couple of websites, so what. I didn't hurt anyone. I didn't deprive anyone of a meal or money. She needs to take that self-righteous zealotry and direct it towards real problems in the world, not inane nonsense like online trolling.

If that isn't a classic example of troll science then I don't know what is!!
-
Re: How to deal with trolls...
Well science is basically common sense on steroids.

Re: How to deal with trolls...
Even that statement doesn't even make sense! That's ok though, you are well and truly out as a troll!

If I want your passive agressiveness I'll beat it out of you...indirectly...or something like that.
You're just making it a bit hard to find jokes in your writing.
Frankly, I've always been pretty impressed with the average intellectual level of the discourse on this forum (though it has taken a hit lately as a high pressure settling in over Chit-Chat has resulted in mild weather around here for some time). I didn't take J Murphy's post to be nearly as venomous or passive as you did. I thought she made her point pretty clearly, and I would expect that her opinion is actually the majority one, since the majority active on most forums will be supportive of the objective of the forum and bought into the underlying religion of the site (every site rests on a set of shared faith). I'd tend to sum it all up with this, though I can't think of an appropriate lolcat picture to go with it:
Controversial lifestyles is controversial.

Make no mistake Shaggy, she bore her fangs in her last post. Joacim and Tyson also strongly disapproved of what I revealed but they did not assume the right to pass judgement on me. They kept it strictly on the subject itself, not the person. Miss Jennifer on the other hand made it personal. Don't be fooled, her diatribe was meant to be as a dagger to my heart. She was clever enough to cloak it in an aura of passive aggressiveness but I see clearly what her true thoughts are. I did not disrespect her or any other who disapproved but she deigned to judge me, something I interpret as quite disrespectful.

Yeah, but they were attempts at a form of sarcasm. I can see where trolling about trolling might look like plain old trolling though.

So you're arguing that you have the right to deliberately invade the "homes" (for want of a better word) of others and verbally attack them, but that Jennifer does not have the right to come into your own home and condemn you for that behaviour. You want the right to offend but to deny others the right to be offended. I'm sorry but that just doesn't stack up.
Indeed, if you are finding yourself so bothered by Jennifer's condemnation is not possible that you, yourself, just got trolled? (As opposed to getting trollied which is a lot more fun)

Re: How to deal with trolls...
As soon as I saw her post I knew this thread was coming back to life :D
I just laid back and waited for the fall out...

Re: How to deal with trolls...
This all reminds me of something I did one time. There was a site for free legal advice that I posted a question on. I was viewing some other threads and noticed what I considered unnecessary name calling. When I mentioned it I got flamed big time by a couple of regulars. I signed up as three more members, all you needed was a hot mail account, and started my own game.
I posted a question that could be considered trolling and waited. As expected the flamers came out to play and between my four memberships, each with a different approached, toyed with the flamers until I got bored. Each of the pseudo members attacked the flamers and supported each other when they fought back. I/we followed then around awhile on that site causing them grief. It was fun for a little while and then like all trolls I just went away eventually.
I lose any moral ground I might have had posting this but thought I’d mention it.

If this is the case then I bow humbly to a superior player. I'm not immune to being trolled myself lol, and I'm sure as hell not gonna lose sleep over it.

Free legal advice site? Would you say that you made brief work of them? Would you say that it suit them well?

So you tried to solicit a reaction? Well in this case you got away with it. You managed to avoid the bar.
