The forum is going really slow today! Is there any reason why that is?
I have saw several pages which took 1-3 minutes to load today. Some have loaded at a more reasonable rate of 15 seconds or so but I have yet to see any page load fast since the upgrade. A best they normally take several seconds and at worst 2 minutes or more or not at all.
Looking at some other forums which use the same software I see pages loading in 1-3 seconds on average and can't recall ever seeing them load any slower than what we are getting here on the best load of the best day. Something is going on somewhere that is just killing the response times.
Of all the sites I visit on a daily basis, vbforums.com is by far the worst performing
Same issue here, very slow compared to our previous version.
I am still seeing irratic behaviour sometimes I can click on 3 or 4 posts which load fine then on the next one it will just sit there for 1-3 minutes. There has been maybe one or 2 days since the upgrade that this did not happen at least once and over the weekend and into today it is happening quite a bit.
The same thing is true for the sister site CodeGuru sometimes the pages load in a reasonable amount of time [still slow but tolerable] and other times it takes minutes and sometimes they just don't load at all. Sometimes a refresh will load it right up and other times will give a long delay or failure to connect message.
Hard to believe this has not been fixed yet.
I agree. After some time away I was (am) amazed at how slow it is. If it doesn't get fixed people will start avoiding the site, IMHO.Quote:

I don't think the pattern is particularly random, at the moment, which might help. In my experience, either the page loads in a couple seconds (this is the strong majority, fortunately), or else it takes well over a minute. There isn't a range of times, it's a strongly bi-modal distribution. I would also say that the ratio of fast to slow does seem to change over the day and between days. It seems to range from 4:1 up to about 10:1 (fast:slow).

I love this site, it has helped me countless times and since it's free I don't have the right to complain. It seems a shame that it has lost its ability to preform properly. I don't know who the company is that sold this software but they have done a real disservice to VBForums. The fact that these problems have not been fixed after months shows their lack of regard for you as a customer. I would have no clients if I provided this type of customer support.
Well, now it's performing jsut fine... It's possible it might have been switch related as it cleared up when I switched from a wired connection to a wireless one (figure that out)... but even when I was on the wired connection, other sites were running just fine... go figure. So I don't know. Maybe I'll just chalk it up to the Serling Sign Post company.

I haven't did much today but have saw any issues that I have not been seeing everyday thus far. Some pages load fairly quickly and others slow but bout the same as it has been on its good days since the upgrade.
It is bad at this time.

Edit of edit -- edit posted in < 2 seconds. Re-edit took 10+ seconds to fully load page.
Less than 2 seconds was acceptable. The 10+ seconds was not good, but not what I'll call awful. If anyone is seeing greater than 15 second response times for doing things more than once, then do post what you were doing.
Let's see if this edit of the edit posts in < 2 seconds too....
Right after that it seemed to crash. Here is the log from Firefox, for what it is worth:

edit - about 2 secs. for editor to appear.
about 5 secs for preview.
about 10 secs. for submit.
Hmm, perhaps I've set my standards too low. I'm not sure that anything on here has loaded in two seconds, but by now I can't remember what it was like before.
I feel that....I've just about gotten used to the site's poorer performance. I swear I could almost predict when its gonna start screwing up. Eg...I expect this post to go through in about 3 seconds and 2 posts after this, the last one would stall for like 5 minutes with a chance that I'll have to refresh the browser and the post would be there despite the instinctive feeling that it didn't go through. I don;t think so.....The numbers(No. of users viewing [Insert subforum], No.of users online etc) look the same as they were before the upgrade.

ok... now that was jsut unacceptable... I posted a reply to a post ... and the screen just sat there with the "busy" icon spinning... so I stepped away in a new tab to go do something else... forgot about it. came back, it was STILL showing as busy... I know it posted because when I went to my subscriptions to pull this one up... I saw that I now had one for that post... stamped at 10:27... it's now 10:58... so ... posting is happening... but something is getting lost along the way and the server isn't responding back and refreshing the screen...
and I think that's where some of the heartburn is coming from... it's not so much the site is slow... it's ACTING slow, when in reality it may not really be.

We normally don't state anything about numbers. I'll tell you, however, that year-over-year, October is currently up significantly over last year and is trending very nicely. (pageviews, visits, visitors)Quote:

I am seeing several issues today, Quick reply window is sometimes not creating the entry field, other times is 1/2 the normal width and of course when I hit quick reply quite often it just sits there waiting on a response for 2 minutes or more.
Also having issues with the edit post sometimes it loads up very slowly and sometimes it does not complete. The most recent post I tried to edit ended up with none of the font or color options drawn. As with quick reply quite often when I hit save it just sits there for a long time.
About 20% of posts I have clicked on today took quite a while to load as well.
I was really hoping that this would be fixed by now. It has gotten to the point that when I make a post I usually just switch my KVM to another PC to check my email or something while I wait. On an average day this forum has me waiting about 10-30 minutes longer than it should for pages to load.
Based on what I have saw on other vBulletin forums surely this can be fixed to where all pages load in under 5 seconds every time with most loading in less than 2 seconds.
Performance is ridiculously slow today. How long is this going to go on??? :mad:
We went several days..... I thought we were looking good..... alas....
I've asked the techs if anything has happened in the last 24 hours to change performance and such. Let me see what they say.

The admin is saying that there is nothing on the server logs showing speed issues or database errors. Please report any additional details on what you are doing and what you are seeing if you get delays.
(I know I'm having trouble with the Quikck Reply box keeping up iwth my typing.)

I'm just seeing slow loading times, 30-60 seconds to fully load. I see there were a few other comments saying the same thing this morning...
PS. I am seeing issues with the Quick Reply box as well ... controls not loading & text not clearing after posting.
I've had no issues today. Performance has been excellent for a couple weeks now, for me.
I have not noticed anything serious for a while now, the pages do load a bit slow but I am used to that. They have not been hanging for 2-3 minutes like before and in general are on the acceptable side of slow lately.
Edit: Actually that post went through pretty quickly and the edit came up faster than I have saw it since the upgrade. Speed is actually pretty good now.
