I'd buy one of these if I won vast amounts of cash on the lottery...
Yeah, but it'd be a bugger to park at safeways:)
Sorry to regurgitate this thread after so long, but we've just finished loads of work on the old jallopy.
yes, I know it probably looks the same as the previous pics, but tough.

Rowan Atkinson HAD a purple McLaren F1....till he wrapped it round a gatepost at 80ish....after careening of a Mini Metro... near Lancaster in the North of England.....Quote:

Car was in a right state - it probably cost more to fix the gate though as the property is grade listed!

Got my eyes on a nice little 318 beemer... the only problem is I have only been driving a year so insurance is astronomical...
'73 Triumph GT6?
Right on the nose...originally magenta, but now Ford galaxy blue (company colours, in case I ever get it working again)Quote:

Post selling in the states (I guess in around '71/72) - the rubber/plastic bumper bits are a giveaway....they did the same with the MGB.... The '70 Mk2 looks a peach though...
GT6.jpg
You can definately tell they are hand built though...Quote:
Someone I know had one, had loads of trouble with it; bad paint job, stuff not screwed down properly etc
Used to work around the corner from the factory (where a couple of mates are in the engine and paint dept.) - they used to run them up to the M55 before they were finished to run the drivetrain in....body panels held down with tape.
Great sound though...
GT6
Can I borrow your gearbox :-)
Cars.... Great way to get around but if you want a girl to pay attention then ride one of these...
I have a 6 month lease on this feller.
Perfect on the A303 (as proved by Gaffer last weekend :D )
What it it with you yanks and 4x4s?
hopefully my next car providing I can get this job merlarky sorted out :)

I don't have a clue what all these people do with their 4X4s. The vast majority of them NEVER see anything but pavement. Just a waste of gas. I always have a laugh when gas prices go up, you always see a fresh crop of "For Sale" signs.Quote:

you want the one based on the 45 Ian...the MGZS I think.
2.5, 180 ponnies, tasty, pulls like a hooker. Quickest of the three MGZx's
If you're going to use petrol, I think it needs to be used correctly - in the Audi TT on Saturday, I used a tank of petrol (about $50 ) to get to my destination... :D:D:D
Well, I don't have a picture of my car, but it looks very similar to
this:
http://www.velocityjrnl.com/jrnl/193...l2022mult.html
It gets about 29MPG. No air-conditioning, decent CD and
speakers, about once a month a cop pulls me over just to look at
it (not tickets yet), and yes it WILL break the speed limit.
LOL pulls like a hooker :D
I test drove the MG (can't remember which one), but fell in love with the Audi for sheer drivability, and it's ability to look like a slipper too
Best sounding car is the old MGB.... grunty...
chris, yes it is the ZS, but that is probably is going to be out of my price range where as I can get the 1.8i ZR with most of the trimmings for 12 and a half :)
With the stainless steel sports exhaust the GT6 has a lovely sound, but the sound of a Chimera opening up is the best (IMHO)Quote:

furry muff. the ZR is a cracker anyway ;)Quote:

150(?) from a 1.8 is pretty sound
I'll second that :)Quote:

Cheers Katie, but I have to confess it's actually my brothers. We all get together and work on it over the winter so she's looking almost as good as new (she was in a hell of a state when he got her).Quote:

I laugh when I see this. No, I've never taken my 4x4 off roading (I never intend to). Why did I buy it? Well, 50% of the year we have around 2 to 4 feet of snowing lying around. After a fresh dump of snow, you do not want to be driving a 4x2.... trust me on this. We spend half our time pulling neighbours out of snowbanks etc. 4x4's aren't just for off-roading.Quote:

Oh yeah, and as for the fuel consumption it's about 50c (CND) a litre which is about 25p. I'm used to paying British prices, it'd have to quadruple in price before I started to worry about....
:)

I use my 4X4 to go to beer bonfires in the desert! Plus I have many shortcuts home that other cars don't!
Tell me about it!Quote:

I smacked my BM early this year and now they want 1600 full comp, it is a 328 though.
:Horror: This'll give me nightmares........Quote:

Would a good Irish American girl like myself burn beer??? What are you thinking?!?!?
did you put on your fetching orange green and white outfit for today Katie?
No but I do have on a lovely green sweater in honor of the occasion!
No doubting their usefulness - I was questioning some posts where peoples dream car was a huge shiny room on wheels...Quote:
