Quick question - has anyone unlocked the M16 yet? Without giving away any story, I'm on the mission "Three Leaf Clover" and could really, really use it. :(
Sounds like you are a bit further than me.. just got my first assault rifle last night, and just unlocked whatever island is the one modeled after manhattan (the large middle island).
I get too side tracked with all the side missions that I haven't gotten too far through the main ones.
Three Leaf Clover is the last in a series of story missions that unlocks the final island. All I can say is, when you see it come up... Make sure you are full health, full armor and strapped (full ammo on anything you can shoot) before you go to it.
I did some side, I need to do more. I think one of them unlocks more weapons.
I would check all the gun shops or call little jacob for guns (if you unlocked that, not sure if that is a side thing or not)
How do you find the duck and cover system? So far, if I do things right, I take very little damage in the missions. I do use a good amount of ammo, but as long as the mission isn't timed, I just don't rush things and take guys out 1 by 1
I don't use it alot. The earlier missions, most of the enemies just hide and blindly fire at you around corners. I just wait for them to start shooting and then charge them. It's actually alot easier to sneak around enemy compounds then have stand-offs with them.
Yeah, I didn't do much of the Little Jacob missions. Maybe 4 deliveries and some darts/bowling (still need turkey achievement ><). Pretty much anyone who calls me, I've been avoiding.
there is also an achievment for all the remaining friends you have to have a fondness level above 90% I believe it is once you have completed all the missions.
I'm pretty much saving that one as an after thought. Do the game in less than 30hours, firstly. Then go back and make friends. Outside of story missions, I've got the darts, pool, wheelie and one-man army so far. I haven't found a crowd large enough to do Finish Him and no jumps big enough for the 5 flips.
what about the escape from 4 star wanted level? I did that one last night, but man 4 stars is rough. I don't think its possible to escape 6 unless you have a lot at your disposal.
6 doesn't have a radius you can escape from. I tried it in a helicopter - no luck. You don't have to escape from it though, just last 5 minutes. Which... Is very easy to do in a helicopter and just hovering in the middle of the ocean (after you escape the other helicopters).
I lasted 5 minutes :DQuote:

It's insanely simple actually. Go to the bridge that has a train track running under it in the first island. Run up to the road block (has to be somewhat early in the game) and shot at a cop. You now have a 6 star wanted level. Now jump onto the train tracks and wait 5 minutes. They can't really hit you at all there and you'll just need to kill the occasional cop that makes it to the tracks.
Haha, they still have problems with tracks? I used to get the epic machine gun thing in SA and go to some tracks and wreck havoc. The only people that ever could fire at me were helicopters, and I shot them down quick enough for them not to be a threat.
Do tanks come after you when you get 6 stars like they did in SA? It was so sweet being able to steal one of their tanks and then plow into cars and blow everything up.
No tanks, no fixed wing aircraft, no jet pack.
I have not seen a tank yet, but I only got 6 stars once (by accident) and was killed VERY soon after that happened.
My initial guess is going to be no, as I feel they tried to keep some sence of "reality" to the game. I know the game is not realistic, but I feel they tried to make it the most realistic yet, im more than just the better graphics.
So from what I have seen, you just get a ton of cops on you until there is no where to go but dead. You can get the armored police vehicles if you are good enough to steal one without being shot...

I remember trying to fly the stupid DODO in the previous game (2 or 3 or vice, cant remember). I made it across the water once but it was so hard to take off and do anything with it.
I am not sure why they would leave a plane out, maybe they feel it will push the critics over the edge with their 9/11 re-enactment claims and further delay the game, but I doubt that would hold much water, there are plenty of flight sim games, and what not, where you can do that now if you really want to.
Oh right, a friend of mine did say there was an apache helicopter somewhere on the third island (which do come after you around 5 or 6 stars). Other than that - nothing.
yeah, there must be, because when you go into "party mode" to wait for your friends to join in multiplayer, you spawn at a shipping yard and can climb onto the roof and find said helicopter there. It seems harder to fly than the regular one, and you press B I believe (xbox 360) to shoot with the helicopter.
It is really hard to shoot and fly well though
From what I read, it wasn't due to the "renactments" (although a good point). I had heard from a couple sources it was due to the size of the map. Since there is ALOT less dead space; there really isn't enough room to add planes in. If you look at the map, there's only 2 airports and not many places in between to land one.Quote:

Or they could make it one of those military jets that lands vertically.
Or they could just let you land your plane in the middle of traffic and have fun....
Either way, they have never had a fully functioning plane have they? I never played SA so I am not sure what they added into that one.
i really liked having the jetpack in SA.
@kleinma: they have the 'Hydra' in SA where you can land vertically.
There are planes in SA; some propeller ones and some jet ones.
my favorite plane to fly is the Jamaican Air planes in SA
bah. enter the code and fly a car.
You increase your chances of dementia by 3 fold later in life if you cheat in video games.
that's not cheating. Getting weapons you didn't earn is cheating
Finaly played it for the first time this weekend. HOW HARD IS DRIVIN!!!!!
Driving??? Everything is hard! :afrog: I struggle with the walking, as you now have to use a single analogue stick to move AND rotate the character.
Maybe I'm just too slow for this. :(
I make you right, walking takes some gettin use to.
I played it for about an hour and my driving was still awful.
Any one who has played it for longer...Does your players driving skill get better or do you just have to get better yourself???
Oh god, don't tell me the thumbstick functions have changed?? I loved that about SA, you could drift around a corner while doing awesome cinematic camera tricks.
I'm annoyed if they haven't brought back the Harrier Jump Jet from SA ("Hydra"). That was a properly kickass jet, though it took hours of practice to avoid crashing into things like, oh for example, the ground.
Dodo (Cessna 150 or 172), Cropduster (biplane), Beagle (some ancient twin-prop), Nevada (DC-3), Shamal (L45), AT400 (A319), and Hydra (Harrier Jump Jet). There was a stunt biplane and a seaplane as well.Quote:

I liked the SeaSparrow. It looked just like one of those harmless swamp choppers you see in the everglades until you realise it's got a great big minigun on the front. Slow and twitchy, but can destroy trucks like nobody's business.
And let's face it, blowing up ambulances with a helicopter is what life is all about.
The sea sparrow was cool. The Hunter was almost as cool, except for the sinking in water part.
Yeah, they should make assault helicopters out of cork.Quote:

As you've probably already noticed, it'll flip you around or worse yet - bring you to a complete stop. Also, keep in mind the triggers are pressure sensitive. Slamming on the left trigger will make you stop alot faster, where as pressing it half way will bring you to a wider drift and you lose less speed.Quote:

If you played Driver back in the day, the driving controls and handling reminds me alot of it.
driving is all about NOT holding the gas to the floor. It is a good mix of gas/brake/ebrake. Once you learn the right combo and how much of each to apply, you can rip around corners pretty damn fast and make it look pretty too. I am becoming a pretty decent driver, as I try to drive legit and not crash into anything (most of the time). I highly suggest using the inside the car view instead of the behind the car view. That also takes a little getting used to, but makes the game feel that much more sureal and I think it is easier to drive like that.
Also, I like to keep a cop car on hand, because you just turn your siren on, and most people get the hell out of your way, which is nice, especially for crusing over the bridges. You also don't have to stop and pay the toll if you are in a cop car.
True - unless I have to use a different vehicle, I just take the motorcycle everywhere. Dangerous (make sure you wear your helmet), but really really effective for getting somewhere fast and easily. Handling a bike is a little more forgiving than a car IMO.
yes it can be, but the bike doesn't brake as well compared to some cars and it can be easy to get thrown off when that stupid car comes through the intersection the same time as you, and you are going 120.
Plus, when you go through the toll at full speed, you then have to lose the cops, which is easy enough with 1 star, but still a pain. I like the whole "parting of the red sea" moses approach to putting on the police siren, and making people get out of my way.
This the longest thread ive ever started. Im so proud. Usually, i explain my newbie problems, people laugh and within second i get an answer and realise how stupid ive been.
The cop car angered me once and I've been avoiding it since. I had the sirens on, car at an intersection to my right was making a left turn. He/She/It heard the sirens and stopped in the middle. I'm pretty good at gaugeing where a car will be before I get to an intersection, but when I'm splitting between 6 others and am faced with an inevitable collision... Bam, through the windshield.
Amusing, but frustrating at the same time.
i wish there was a seatbelt option.. it seems sometimes i go through the windshield, and sometimes I don't. Convertibles send me flying out the top sometimes too...
People do stop sometimes with the siren on. If you hold down the horn with the siren on, you get other siren noises, and it may help to clear out the area better, but if you are already speeding down the road, it may be too late.
Was I the only one hoping to have the ability to steal a 747 and fly it into a building?
