Correct me if I'm wrong but VBCode tags feature required a modification of the original forums software, a hack. So whenever there was a new update, the forum software would have to be re-hacked to get the vbcode tags again.
This new way is better since we don't have to wait a new week for vbcode tags to be implemented, since the new tags are built into the software.
Again, correct me if i'm wrong :afrog:
Well it's still a "hack" in the strict sense of the word, but this version allows use of altered code in the form of "plugins" rather than altering files on the server. Much easier to handle, and to re-add after upgrades. Of course if there's variable names changed between versions (as there were in the last 2 major releases), then it needs adjusting.

So 24 hours of things not being quite perfect (which is less than the months of pain you'll go through when you upgrade a browser or operating system) is a small price to pay for some better features and a more secure site for all of us. (in my opinion).
I personally would like to thank those that have remained calm and polite during this upgrade. It is appreciated.

If there was a valid post for repping then the thread should have been more out of CC. After the main issues are fixed the CC Hack will be reaplied and CC Reps will be deleted. So please no one make any CC Reps as it will only make more work for the Admins. ;)

As I said earlier, I'm pretty ok with the highlight=vb tag. However what will be done with all earlier posts that used the vbcode tag? The code in those (surely) several hundred of thousands of posts are now very hard to read. Are those posts going to be updated to use the new highlight tag?
Also, (this may have been pre-update; I haven't checked before) the RSS feed uses dtds.

Yes the noparse tags are very nice and easy to use as compared to the older open/close tags.
Also will you be adding back the ability to delete your posts? I use it sometimes when i write an answer thats already similar to someone else (so i don't just say the same thing twice)
