30 days, and the pace was pretty much 2.5 mph. You're right, I didn't eat enough. I never do on those hikes. When I did the AT back in 89, I dropped from 210 down to 160. That's pretty thin for a 6'3" guy. I couldn't swim any more (I sank), I couldn't hold my arms over my head for more than a few seconds, and I doubt I could have done more than three or four push ups, though I didn't actually try (I was too busy keeping my pants on, though they had fit four months earlier).
