My Update......
I've started my tutorial on making a 2D Graphics Engine, got quite a bit done as well. Not sure how long it's gonna take but hopefully not too long, after tonight I'm working solidly till sunday so dought I'll get a chance to add to it till then :(.
Is there any other Q's you want to pass my way to answer BTW?

One extra thing: Once your using DirectDraw stay at that point till your really confident with it before you move onto Direct3D.

Things like this, can be done with just picture boxs, just use the Top and Left properties to move a load of boxs around the screen. There's loads of stuff you can do just using Pictureboxes (and there's no need to worry about rendering).
If your comfortable with VB you might be able to skip this bit and go to BitBlt. If you do this then you want to create a large Picture box and BitBlt to it using its hDC property. :D.

Thanks electroman, i have my strenths and weaknesses in VB like anyone. Say is BitBlt a whole new programming language or what?
I though you missed a sentence because it didnt make sense.

BitBlt is a windows API that copies graphics, do a search on google and you should find thousands of tutorials.
Yeah I think I meant to put a comma after "www.DirectX4VB.com" instead of a full stop, don't know if that makes anymore sense?

Yeah, I just tried it again and it seems fine, you need to click and hold on the red box in the middle and drag it around avoiding the other boxs and black wall.Quote:

The boxes are working in IE, just the crap AOL browser, the support for it is pathetic!

They will apear at this forum too, after I have had an answer from SeeTheGeek....

I have wanted it for a long time. But since I am doing DX in C++ and making a game in it as well...I don't have the time...:(...maybe later...
Yeah I plan to convert my Graphics engine to C++ once I'm more comfortable with it. Stuff I've learned in C++ already, like pointers, I've thort of how to use to improve the engine's speed.
Yeah, once you are comfortable with the language it is not hard to improve the speed. But it's not a good idea to do it befrore you are comfortable with it. Then it will be VB with C++ syntax, and that won't be good at all...:)

Yeah for everyone else don't avoid doing a DirectX tutorials just cos I'm doing an engine, it probably won't make too much sense to anyone new to DirectX.

I was just wondering if he'd looked at it before cos their tutorials ask whether you want to use full screen or not. And I haven't really seen it anywhere else, didn't mean to accuse you of not writing it. It has VB examples as well but I've never looked at them.

I have loads to do, need to finish a couple of assignments in philosophy and one in compiler construction.. and then we have a new period starting in two weeks and all the crap that follows..
Yeah I have meetings at all weird times....got home 23:30...:D....and then it was homework. I probably have one hour or so later today to start on it. Hope I get a hole bit of it done.
So you have compiler construction. That sounds fun. Are it all theoritical or is it some programming too? ASM?

Yeah we have to construct compilers from scratch, I've been waiting two years to take this course and now when i'm taking it i'm almost neglecting it.. yeah its quite theoretical, but you get to write it too but its done in java :rolleyes:
Done in JAva...hehehe....thats fun...:D...I wish we had classes like that at our school, too many boring classes here....hate that....
