I have but one point to make...
A lot of people in this thread are comparing their pets to a monetary cost. ***? If I bought a cat and it got killed I'd be a hell of a lot more concerned about a dead cat that I'd got attached to, rather than the money I paid for it!

I agree with the thought entirely. But it's not a lot of people in this thread. It's just one or two. I've lost several pets for various reasons and the pet's cost was never an issue at those times.Quote:

Anyways, you KNEW the cat was crossing your fence, and you DID NOTHING!!! furthur, you apparently were aware of what your dog would do to it, AND YOU DID NOTHING!!!
BTW, KEEP your kid away from that killer, or else we might see a real tragedy!!! what if your kid accidently pulls its tail? or you think its cute that he has a davey crockett cap, little realizing how that murdurous dog of yours sees a squrrel on some babes head???

Domesticated dogs are basically just wolf pups mentally. They're pack animals. Within that social framework, they work very much on a pecking-order basis. Unless the dog owners are very negligent, the kid will be higher up in that pecking order and the dog learns to take orders from / protect the kid.Quote:

Besides, as BG said, if a kid gets left with a dog unsupervised that is irresponsible on the parents' part however angelic the dog seems.
Speaking of Mc Donalds (since the truth about cats and dogs has been fully explored :rolleyes: ) we have this ad running in Aust now where ppl from charities are thanking actors pretending to eat Big Macs (i can only assume they are actors :p )
Anyway... the thrust of it is that if you buy a big mac during some period (lol not big on the facts here am i !) they donate $1 to some charity. I find this type of advertising cheesy in the extreme and akin to "if you really love kids with cancer then you will eat mcdonalds crappy food". How about if you really want to stop kids getting sick then stop buying these salt, fat and sugar laden pieces of crap and send them down the park to play.:)
Anyone who would take this to court should be fined for wasting tax-payer's money.Quote:

Why should the dog owner spend his time and energy chasing away a cat that belongs to someone else? The cat was also damaging his property and it sounds like the cat was taunting the dog, but that's really subjective. In any case, I suspect, although it wasn't said, that the dog probably let the cat know he didn't want him around. I don't think the dog said "Here kitty, kitty." and lured the cat over.Quote:

I knew a guy who said he used to be a manager at McDonald's. He was as fierce in his opinion as some of us in this thread. He truly believed that McDonald's food was healthy and nutritious. He went so far to say that he would have no problem, from a health standpoint, of feeding his children nothing but foods from McDonalds.Quote:
