To be honest, America has always actively involved itself in supporting pro-american groups in various countries. It often never occured to them that by supporting these groups they might incite stern anti-american sentiments with the rest of the population of that country.
They've actively funded rebel fighters and terrorist groups and used drug money to cover their expenses.
Now they are surprised that their somewhat less apropriate tactics backfire for once.
Don't get me wrong, I feel deeply sorry for the victims of the WTC. I also happen to feel deeply sorry for the innocent children that died of starvation and lack of medicine in Iraq for example due to the American embargo.
I cannot, however, feel any form of pity for America, the Institution (i.e. government).
If you're willing to engage in dirty politics, you should also be big enough to admit that you might have been wrong.
But then again, American politicians couldn't distiguish right from wrong any more than American troops could distinguish a plain roof over one with a red cross painted upon it, let alone make the difference between a civilian and an Al-Queda/Taliban soldier.
Get off your cloud for once and see that not everyone buys your "American sincerity" policy ...

Tell me something:

• Do you agree with your countrymen funding Irish terrorists?
• Do you think it is right that it is legal for you to pay someone to murder me, my wife and my children?
• Do you in some way feel that planting a bomb in a shopping centre is not murder?
• Do you think that your country is in a position to preach about terrorism while funding terrorists to murder your allies?

You might have noticed the main thrust of the thread has changed to debating the Americans' ongoing financial and moral support for the Irish terrorists who, as I have pointed out, have murdered over 3,000 of us of the past 30 or so years. The only problems I have with America are that this still goes on, and it is still legal.

It's been proven. I am surprised you didn't called it a commie tabloid. The government doesn't support the IRA, no one has ever said that (i think) so I don't know why you are assuming that. It was said I believe that the US gov. ALLOWS it to go on. There are lots of Irish Americans out there supporting these terrorists who have killed lots of people over too long a period.

How do you think the USA would react if there was a terrorist group killing civilians in your country. And what if this was being funded by donations within the UK?
