Morning Dude - as discussed last night, all questions will be numbered for your ease of tracking... :)

When are we going to get together for beers and discuss things. "I don't know" will not suffice - I want a date.
We need to dicuss the following
* Definitive list of techs (when I'm altering the tech screen to be res independant, that will be it as far as new techs are concerned.)
* Might values for components/buildings

What do you think to the idea of having scorched earth. We're going with the idea of burning the hell out of trees, but wouldn't it be a nice touch if we could damage the rest of the terrain. Would be nice to see the battle fields. How difficult would it be for you to draw burnt ground?

Whilst I was thinking just then I think I might have come up with an idea of how we could remove the need for all those coastline graphics. *dodges flung pint glass*
As it seems we can transparenterise with great speed, we could merely draw a coastline square with the sea on and make it transparent where the land would be. If we then stomp that over a land square, it looks like a coastline.
We'd simply need a collection of transparent coastlines to drop on the top of existing land squares. Would shrink the size of the files dramatically.

How are we determining how much energy is required to build a mech? Should it be based on weight? Maybe (weight of mech + (3* number of components)) / energybenefit of faction?

We have a 'read' flag on buildings and units to determine if they show up in the might calculation for a faction. An object is marked as 'read' if it has been 'seen' (physically) or 'pinged' (via infiltration). This gives you the factions might as you can perceive it.
However, when calculating the industrial might (industry per turn), technological (research per turn), and the components/resources stored - how do we provide a limited view of these? I'm stumped here...

What order are the processor points being spent in?
They go on:
* Projects
* Techs
* Units
But in what order? Or do we split across them all?
I was thinking that Units draw the power first, and the remainder is split across projects/tech. The balance can be changed with a slider or some such device.
The more units you have, the slower research is.
