I couldn't help but think of this meme:-

People will act against their own interests just to stick it to Trump. Sticking it to Trump seems to matter more than self-preservation.
That's probably true. Fortunately, Trump won't be pro oxygen, cause that would mean science is real.
If this is true, I would actually agree with Trump on this. Unfortunately, science, like many of the great institutions of the West, has undergone severe ideological capture. Science is now in the service of this ideology. If science produces anything that contradicts the cult's doctrines, it is fiercely derided as blasphemy. It's almost like we're living in the dark ages where one must live in fear of contradicting the church.
Now there is some nuance to this. Not all science has been corrupted this way. A lot of it has to remain pure for practical reasons. For example, you can't on a whim decide that PI is equal to 3 if its actual value offends you somehow because now GPS and navigation stop working. Planes start crashing into each other. The whole world would grind to a halt if everyone decided PI was equal to 3. But the rest of it, what I would call the "inconsequential science", the stuff that is not that important to the functioning of critical infrastructure, that's gone. There are a lot of articles by ideological lunatics produced in the name of science aimed at convincing the non-critical mind of all manner of outrageous nonsense.
I just had an interesting thought after making that post. PI has its own day, March 14th. I would sell my soul just for Trump to make a big deal about it on that day. I'd like him to produce videos declaring what a wonderful number it is, it's history etc. I guarantee the hilarity that would ensue after that would be legendary. It would be comedy of such epic proportions watching people try to find ways to work around PI just because Trump likes it. Imagine trying to denounce PI while being unable to live without it. God, I'd love this to happen so badly just for the entertainment.
Oh my, climate change lol.
Climate change is already oversaturated with epic levels of comedy. I don't think Trump could dethrone legendary characters like Greta "How dare you" Thunberg. Trump leading the charge of the pro-PI movement, now that would be something new. :D:D
I should have guessed your position...
For the first time in more than a decade, climate change has been left off a list of national security threats facing the United States. Its exclusion from the 2025 Annual Threat Assessment, released this week, tracks with the Trump administration's broader dismissal of global warming as either an issue or a risk.
OMG, the climate alarmism cult.
These doomsday cults might be hilarious if so many people weren't hurt by them.
Cult?
That "Cult" gets even more significant if you only include the people that actually do the research.Quote:
In the United States, a significant majority of adults (70%) believe global warming is happening, while only 13% believe it is not, with 17% unsure.
I guess it's it's relatively easy to dismiss these facts if your willing to dismiss anything that doesn't fit your narrative.Quote:
The vast majority, roughly 97-99.9%, of climate scientists agree that climate change is happening and that human activity is the primary cause.
OH , caught up with CNN after 2-3 years I wrote that on the known thread and showed the videos? Good good.
Climate change is happening as that is happening to earth every X amount of millennials , it's a natural phenomena. What is unnatural is the human activity is the primary cause but in the risk of seen 10.000 documents from those 99% of climate scientist that I guess wes has interviewed one by one else he wouldn't have posted that, I would concur that climate change is happening mainly because of the human factor and Trump does not care. It's more fun that way, to see wokers spin around on the floor salivating left and right.
I'm happy since the human factor does is not significant here. The climate changes periodically by earth itself but it's a bonus to see wokers go wild, yes.
Also define worse. What the climate will change to? Or you just write that because they told you so?
So you read all the documents from all the scientist before you post reported statistics? Oh, that right, you don't have any supporting documents. Well, there is .01% of scientist that you agree with. Did you even read that pamphlet? Must of have been very convincing for you to believe the other 99% of scientist are wrong. Why don't you share this compelling information. Because we're all tired of only hearing,Quote:

No one is saying it doesn't but that fact doesn't mean humans aren't also causing change.Quote:
The climate changes periodically by earth itself
Yeah and you read all the documents of 99% that says that human interaction is well over earth interaction. Right. So skipping this as we will get in the usual fight, what are your thoughts (plural) about how to prevent climate change? Firstly what will climate change effect on the planet and what are the means to prevent it. I mean solid means, not just , don't drill and what are the alternatives?
Very helpful answer.
Trying to be serious..

The Trump administration is actively combing through the relevant government institutions erasing references to climate change. Closing agencies responsible for the science studying it. That is denial and stupidity that should alarm even the people that agree with him. What happens when he wants to erase something you do believe in?
Honestly, you're making yourself look ridiculous. We know what the solution to Climate Change is; it's to reduce the volume and density of greenhouse gases that we emit.Quote:
what are your thoughts (plural) about how to prevent climate change?
There's a number of measures we can take to contribute to that though none of them is an answer it's own. Reduced dependence on fossil fuels; increased use of renewable fuels; more efficient energy transformation methods e.g. Carbon recapture in power stations; electric vehicles; better construction methods to reduce the need for home heating and/or air conditioning; more efficient heating through heat pumps rather than boilers; recovery technologies like carbon scrubbing... the list goes on.
There is nothing there that's new or that will come as a surprise to you, despite your feigned ignorance. What is missing is not knowledge, it's will.
Honestly you are making yourself look naive.
What of these measurement are implemented throughout the world? Do China or India give a damn? Does Germany return to carbon instead of the Wind generator BS?
Electric vehicles? Haven't learn your lesson yet? You have to pollute to power them as they are not self sustained and of course toxic and the amount of batteries vs amount of fuel in earth is devastating.
So how you will cool yourself without AC when you visit Greece in the summer? Also who of you is engulfing what you say here? Who here owns an e-bucket? Who have fixed their homes with the better constructions you say and using heat pumps and recovery technologies?
If I'm once ridiculous youre 10 times naive thinking everything you write takes place in the world.
With love ;)
I'd say both.Quote:

Otherwise why did he say this,
When Greece gets over 50% of it's electricity from renewable sources.Quote:
So how you will cool yourself without AC when you visit Greece in the summer?
But this is really not addressing the point of are humans adversely effecting the climate. Because if you don't believe greenhouse gases have an effect on the climate then it doesn't matter how much we produce.
About what I'd expect from rabid fans of The View.
Caution! Only in good health Dems read below, may cause medical issues.

Among the American public overall, the Democratic Party’s favorability rating stands at just 29% – a record low in CNN’s polling
Tomorrow is "liberation Day". I'm' glad I lived long enough...
“Wednesday, it will be Liberation Day in America, as President Trump has so proudly dubbed it,” Leavitt said. “The President will be announcing a tariff plan that will roll back the unfair trade practices that have been ripping off our country for decades. He’s doing this in the best interest of the American worker.”
https://www.cnn.com/2025/03/31/busin...ump/index.html
That's kind of meaningless. In the US, there are two main parties, neither of which has a very large percentage of the population. Both hover in the vicinity of 25%. If you assume that the opposite party will always see a party as unfavorable, and that independents are independent largely because they don't want to be associated with one of the two parties, you would expect a pretty low favorabililty.
The article doesn't really talk about that, though, it talks about the changing view of those in the party. That makes me wonder about what the poll was really about...but not sufficiently curious to go looking. Perhaps it was a poll of Democrats about their leadership, perhaps it was a general population poll about the party favorability. Who knows, and really, who cares? The percent of people in each party just doesn't seem to move all that much.
Yeah you can interpret it as it suits you. But there is a chance that you will have GOP at least 8 years.
Admittedly I haven't read through the complete article but what I read was that among the DEM, what you say but...but..."Among the American public overall, the Democratic Party’s favorability rating stands at just 29%" So among the 29% the views changes etc.
I'm I wrong on that?
Also tariffs , let's see if your fears come true and we all suffer or if the decision was correct. I'll be your correspondence on the other side of the world, beep , beep. :D
I was referring to the general knowledge and opinion rather than any individual's. To put it another way, our scientific and political communities know the causes and solutions, but our political class lacks the will invoke them.Quote:
I'd say both.
Otherwise why did he say this
If I was looking for a meaningful interpretation I'd note that the Dems just rinsed the GOP in Wisconsin, even with Musk trying to buy GOP votes for a million dollars a pop. I can find you lots of polls that'll show you that Trump is currently the most unpopular President in history if you like (though, I doubt you'll consider them) - but that's an actual vote.Quote:
you can interpret it as it suits you
Yeah, let's now read that CNN is pro GOP so the circle can be complete.
I would argue who was correct on the elections but it has no meaning at the time since it's almost 4 years for the next one.
So back to business. BTW the forum is doing the limbo again.
Laugh away...
Thunberg's rise to world fame made her an ad hoc leader in the climate activist community. She faced heavy criticism, especially due to her age. Thunberg's influence on the world stage has been described by The Guardian and other media as the "Greta effect". She has received honours and awards, including in Time's 100 most influential people, named the youngest Time Person of the Year in 2019, inclusion in the Forbes list of The World's 100 Most Powerful Women (2019), and nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize.
I don't think there was anything funny about Greta. She accomplished a lot to counter the disinformation champaign funded by the oil companies.
That said, I found it amazing how eager some people were to dismiss the scientific community of climate scientist, even though @ 99% agreed with the basic findings. That high of a percentage of agreement itself is rare. But people didn't rally around the facts, they chose to rally around a teenager. Her words carried more weight.
I found that strange.
You most certainly have confirmed "I should have guessed your position"...very extreme, I should have known that from the start. Very few of your posts are not "SCREAMING ABOUT LEFTESTS AND THEIR IDEOLOGY". You go there with "Greta"...Just like trans in the past. Very far to the right in a way not really to close main stream right where I am from.
Environmentalists and progressives are two different demographics. They do overlap quite a bit but they are separate entities. You could say they are allies that scratch each other's backs from time to time.
I never gave my position on climate change which is what you were referring to when you first said it. I have only, so far, spoken of Greta Thunberg.
I'm an extremist because I find humor in being scolded by a child? Interesting point of view.
I got nothing against Greta. None of that is her fault. She is simply a victim in all of this. You can convince children to do anything because they don't have the wisdom to know when they are being manipulated. This poor child should never have been dragged into any of this mess. What they did to her is evil. They messed up that girl's head and now she can never live a normal happy life. Now she will spend the rest of her life extremely unhappy while jumping from cause to cause inviting all manner of calamity upon herself. I wouldn't wish such a life on my worst enemy.
So what?
I'm sure that's the only thing you've posted that led to that comment. Play stupid much???Quote:
I'm an extremist because I find humor in being scolded by a child? Interesting point of view.
"Oh. Canada." :p
It seems the moose blinked first, agreeing to drop their many tariffs after all because they fully realize reciprocation would pinch them hard. Suddenly wanting to "cozy up" to Trump because now they see China hungry-eyeing Canada and licking their chops.
Stupid is as stupid does...Forest Gump
I'm currently wondering what french sparkling wine has to do with oil companies (except the CEO's drinking it by the barrel). :D:p
That said: The world economy is going to the dogs.
The Falkland Islands now have to suffer 41% tariff on all exports to the USA.
How will we survive?
Poor Europe. :p
Falkland Islands?! LOL! Long live the Empire!
Crikey!!!
Billboard-Leader is Lesotho with 50%
What a setback for world economy....
But no tariffs on Russia...he wouldn't want to piss off his buddy.
