How do you know they'll go down? I don't think they will..
well i don't know, but any thread in the chit-chat forum has it so the posts don't up your post count, so if it gets moved theoretically we lose posts!!
Or maybe any new posts to the thread just don't get added onto the postcount.
dunno could be
well, its 2:36, and i promised id let my sister go on sometime this morning, so im out. good night all, and all pray for Parksie's throbbing member to return :D :D :D:D
Cool, you're in my time zone!
seems like this post is the most fav.
seems like this post lost its point a while ago
yeah, I think it did..
DUH!!!! any thread i post in eventually has to hit the gutter, look at http://forums.vb-world.net/showthrea...hlight=napsterQuote:

All right, so let's get to the point:
- Should we kill MS or not? :D
hey... no going back to the point, that should never ever happen... yes we should kill gates, and the forum is finally back up.
Technically, discussing whether or not to kill MS is not going back to the point, because the original point was MDI forms. Instead, it's going right to the point. :DQuote:

oh... sry im mad tired, but im determined to stay up a full 48 hours (practice for becoming a programmer)
I take it that i am late here. Thank you tygur for that line. Well i read part of the start of this thread and i was reading a .net book that one of the admins got from techEd2001. ( Introducing .net) and there was a quote in there. The book is at work so i do not remember the guy. Here is the quote.
It does not matter what the network guys do. The software guys will always piss it away.
Well i thought that was cute and i think that microsoft and intel have done just that. Just a little more organized.
Well, then MS should buy Intel... or the other way around :D
I actually dont think we would, if u think about it. The way it prob works is that each time s/o posts in general, it ups the count. Because otherwise, every time it displays a postcount, it would hafta go and count alll the posts and that wouldn't make sense.
good point, but also its possible that everytime you post it adds one to a database, and keeps track of them there, so if the post is moved it could re-write to the database and subtract those posts.Quote:

Doesn't that seem like too much effort? While you could possibly be right, I doubt it. Because what spetnik said would be quicker and easier..
It's only a postcount. I have doubts that so much effort would be put forth to make it accurate.
Could'nt be bothered to read all the crap in this post but u are able to create a MDI effect, by using SetParent ! if u create a picturebox on the main form and then u can set the forms to "work" within that picturebox, tho im not sure what happens f u maximize ur window while its in the picture box.
PsyVision, who gave you permission to attempt to bring the thread out of the gutter??
I don't quite understand you. Put all the forms inside the picturebox? What about the titlebars? From what I remember when I tried this stuff a long time ago, the titlebars don't look right. Did you try this?Quote:

It looks like we may be able to de-gutter this thread afer all!!
NO.......Quote:

I think we may need to call upon Parksie's help :p
no, no need to get him... i should be able to handle it from here
yep... i want to re-gutter it, as it has been de-guttered
PsyVision better get back here quick..
I can't de-gutter it alone
Where can Parksie be? He's supposed to be over here helpin us!!!
HaTE TO cUT IN HERE,{Ps Caps Lock WeirdOut, But I Like It}
Tygur, Spetnik
Or even Skitchen,
Think you can help this guy Out?
I Think he's kind of lost in integrating what he knows with what he doesn't.
I'd like to help, but I think I'll sound too irritated.
But he Does need the help.

I'd help, but I'm not exactly sure what he wants. I will spend some time lookin. btw, the link doesnt work, edit it. (i had to copy into address bar )
I always double check, and had the same problem. And the same solution. So Why does this happen?
The address has to be good, or both ways would have died?
What did I do Wrong, if thats the case?
or perhaps a better question:
Whats the right way to post Links?
I Went to the site, did a copy on the address, came back, selected the http:// button, pasted it, OK, then submitted.
Whats wrong with that?
-Lou
u entered the address as the description, and left the address part blank instead of the other way 'round
OOPS!
I never noticed that it was actually a DOUBLE Prompt!
Alright, I'll try to fix that SUcker!

sorry, too slow ;)
I don't think John's really gonna care too much. It's not like it makes it take any more mouse clicks to move the thread or anything..
AAAAHHHH, Replies!
I Must Have Missed something, John has a problem with Replies?
-Lou
well, he doesn't like off-topic threads in the general Q&A forum
I'm posting at the risk of being hated by a lot of people.
If you all hate M$ so much, then why you programming in VB (created by M$) in Windows (created by M$)?
Yeah, so There's a few (uhum) bugs, but let me see you write an OS with 40 million+ lines of code without bugs.
And why the hell would you want one child window maximised and another one not, anyway?
PS: And these 1000 reply posts are really annoying!
I program in VB cuz thats what I am paid to do. As for a great OS, see UNIX/LINUX. And as for my MDI app, thats how the program needs to work. Nuff said
The reason why I program in VB is simple. I'm lazy. VB is easy and I'm too lazy to learn something else. I hope I get over this laziness soon, tho. I want to learn C++.Quote:

The reason why I program in Windows is also simple. I'm too lazy to learn to use Linux. As long as I've been using computers, I've been used to the DOS way of doing things (anyone who's used windows/dos for a long time and then tried to switch to linux knows what I mean). Linux requires a major adjustment for me.
As one of my instructors always said, "Programmers are lazy" :p
Well I think VB's fine for most of the stuff we wanna do :)
Right, we already helped someone in this thread so I think it can't be moved to the chit chat forum! ;)
Btw the biggest proof that programmers are lazy is called "functions" :p
ok... now back to being off topic, how is everyone??? the next person who posts on topic is gunna get my foot shoves so far up their ass they will be spitting out tonails!!! jkLOL
ouch
lol... i love your sig spetnik
thanx. see here: http://www.vbforums.com/showthread.p...threadid=86136
Hey spetnik, why don't you like gates? Don't tell me you don't like doors either :p
(Ok my father works for MS so I shouldn't say this, but here in Portugal we have this expression, "dumb as a door" ;) )
Right, well we say dumb as a doorknob, but it appears as if Gates doesn't have a knob
Well in that case you shouldn't make him more rich by using other software, you know? :p
Listen, i get paid to do it. It's not my choice :)
So what's the record for thread size here?
Sorry to say this guys, but UNIX is Crap, its been around for 15 years and is STILL more buggy than Windows 95, The various GUI versions are unstable just as much as Windows if not more and have less features.
As for the MDI thing, it is that way cause thats how the mainstream users (read idiots) need it too be, so that it is easier to use, and for the more powerusers, theres always the Tile options, built into most MDI applications.
be happy be free, next time you meet a microsoft Employee, buy him a drink, chances are its not his fault, and he is doing his best.
This is it :D Just click the Replies column to see!Quote:
