I wasn't talking to you Sock.
i'll have a look Harry ;) and probably a good laugh too :)
Hmmm.. still no answer...
If you'd written the Bible then you'd know it says to test everything to see if it's of God. You obviously are not. God does not demand blind faith as you do.
You are your own downfall.
Harry,
At least you pronounce it right. :)
But it is SoC, no k.
It means Soldier of Christ as my logo shows.
Did i imply i was god in the first place?
Oh really? Silly me. It seems so obvious that you might even think that I already knew that.
Yes. You calimed to write the Bible. In essence God did write the Bible, just through men.
I've gotta go. Be back Thursday.
Hey, don't you forget that 'evidence', ya hear? i'd hate to miss out on that revelation.
If i wrote a whole book, and god wrote it through me, then does that imply i'm god?
Hey, you guys have been having way to much fun while I was away.
Interesting SoC that your attitude to drinking and drugs is that they are evil. You are so quick to scorn that which you do not understand. Where do you draw the line between medical drugs and recreational drugs? Because some doctor or priest decided? If they make marijauna legal next year for medical purposes (as they probably will in Canada) will it cease to be evil?
You're comments earlier about Satan did this or Satan did that fail to account for the fact that all these comments came from God. So back to my original qustion: How do you know you can trust him?
As for quiji boards not working around Christians, if you believe they work at all then you are a frighteningly gullible individual (in my humble opinion), I have never heard of anyone who really believes they work. Maybe I come from a cynical group of people:)
The whole drinking thing. I drink, my whole family drinks and all my friends male and female drink, it's what Scottish and Irish people do. We are completely in control of our lives and you standing on your principaled high horse shows us all how closed your mind is. It is quite apparent that you believe things are good or evil. There is no inbetween. In your eyes drinking is evil because eithher
a) Some people abuse alchohol
or
b)This god chappy (who we don't trust yet) says so.
I'm curious to hear any other grounds you have.
Finally, like Katie I am completely at peace with myself. I have a family whom I love and who love me. It is unbelievably arrogant of you to say that we can never know true happiness (or peace) how would you know. I was a Christian, most of my friends where Christians (some still are), I'm much happier now than I ever was. I know, you're going to say I wasn't a true believer, the standard retoric in undefendable positions of faith. Can't you come up with something more concrete than that none excuse?

P.S. The bible being a best seller: I couldn't stop laughing at this. One you have a large group of people who feel morally obliged to buy it, you have churches who buy it by the hundreds, but mostly it has been on sale longer than ANY other book in history. It doesn't take a genius to work out why it's a best seller.
So back to my original question. How do we know we can trust this god guy? We know we can't take the bible's word 'cause he wrote it. So?:D
In fact there's no chance we have a god at all, i didn't feel inspired by something when i wrote the book, I wrote the book to get all the money from the sales ;)

Satan said he'd make himself like God. That utterly failed. Now he's lower than dirt.According to the bible written by this god guy.
As for the possibility that Satan's the good guy...
Why is it that Satan is the one that tries to destroy us and not God? Er, would this happen to have come from the bible again?
Why is it that Satan points you to any religion except Christianity? And this, where did this come from? :) The bible again? Or has been taught to you as a fact from the big Christian bumper book of facts that seems to be quoted as Proof
If you read the Bible, it says that Lucifer (Satan before he fell, meaning he was an angel) tried to make himself like God. and because of that, God threw him out of Heaven. He still has access to heaven, but does not live there anymore. According to the bible written by this god guy once again
Are you denying that Christ even came to earth at all? Nope. I have no problem with that part. Doesn't make the rest of it true though :)
A few questions for you...
1)Why is it that satanic practices won't work around Christians? (EG: ougia boards (however it's spelled), fortune telling) You believe in this mumbo-jumbo. That figues
2)If God is so bad then why does he tell you that you're worth something and that he wants you while satan tells you you're nothing and that you shouldn't be alive? Er, how exactly does Satan tell us this? I hae always held myself in incredibly high esteem. Maybe it's because the church finds it easy to prey on emotionally low or weak people???
3)If Satan's such a nice guy then why is it that he pushes stuff like suicide, drinking, drugs? Again, where did you hear this. The big bumper book of indisputable Christian facts? I aint gone on Suicide, but hey, the other two are fine in my books as long as they aren't abused. This Satan chap sounds like a good time party dude:)
4)If you don't think you need God, why do you never feel completely at peace? We've already covered this. I am completely at peace. Who feeds you these facts? It is quite apparent that the last one is completely wrong, so maybe the person that told you these things is wrong about everything else?
If you can't answer those questions, I can. As you can see I'm quite capable of answering them. I await your response eagerly:)
While you're waiting, feel free to peruse www.christianlesbians.com
It was a good laugh, but I expected more pictures (of lesbians!!)... oh, hang on that'll be Satan telling me to say that :)

SoC, I have been a Christian for several years, and I have to say that you are making somewhat of a fool of yourself!
Firstly, you cannot throw scripture at people with the intelligence of the people who have been posting in this thread without the theological knowledge to back it up! I would be extremely reluctant to start a discussion like this, as I am not yet confident enough in my biblical knowledge to put forward convincing arguments.
Secondly, I'm not sure I agree with some of your decidedly dubious interpretations of the bible! Especially those regarding drinking! MY Gradfather was an alcoholic, but neither myself or my father have ever been drunk, although we do drink. None of my grandfathers male ancestors were alcoholics. How do you explain that? The thing is, the bible permits drinking in moderation!!!
If you are looking for any evidence that the Bible is incorrect then it depends on how rigidly you interpret the Bible. If you insist on taking it at face value and word for word then it is easy to show flaws and contradictions in the bible. If, on the other hand, you wish to apply a loose interpretation of the bible then it's always going to be impossible to prove the bible wrong.
There are two things here that should not be confused. Proof that God does not exist and proof that the bible is incorrect/flawed/could not be the word of God. The existance of God cannot ever be disprooved but the Bible can.
Anyone who wants a rundown on all the flaws and contradictions there are to be found in the Bible (both old and new testament), may I suggest this book by Thomas Paine: 'The Age of Reason'. It was written over two hundred years ago by a deist (someone who believes in god but rejects all forms of institutionalised religion). In this book (actually two books combined) he systematically takes apart the bible by critically appraising it and then finally advocates Deism as the way forward.
Now, don't get me wrong. It doesn't mean that everything in the Bible must be wrong. It's just that if you find one thing in the bible that cannot be true, the whole book must be re-appraised as you can't take for granted that anything in the book is the word of god.
Let's all go to moderation for a partttyyyy!!!!Quote:
