See if you can get your hands on something like this. A chinese made equipment might also work, since it probably would have to work just once to scare him away.

Yeah.. I have seen that in the hands of road-side local sellers and costs about Rs. 10.
Re: [SERIOUS] How to detect if a door is opened or not ?
we actually built our own burgler alarm and it chased off a criminal.
First, get one of the motion-activated porch lights.
Next either get a light-socket to plug-in adapter or hard-wire a plugin onto it.
Finally plug in a 12v power supply and hook a car alarm siren to it.
You will get one light minimum lighting up and an ear piercing noise. These things are unbearable indoors. Someone broke into our garage (we think we know who and by garage i mean auto service center) and he must have been creeping low because there was a blind spot in the sensor thanks to a truck in the garage. Well this person tried to carry a safe out of the building and you can't very well hunch over doing that. We found our safe in the middle of the floor the next day and divots in the gravel where the guy obviously dove out the window he broke to get in.
I had the parts laying around when i built it, but you could make similar for about $40 with new parts.

Fantastic idea :)
However, we need to keep in mind not every house in India will have a parking space. The wiring required for this would not be safe/good/advisable on a public road or even a footpath.
But maybe you could use Bluetooth if the car is parked within proximity.

no cars were required. there was a 120 volt motion sensing light which turned on a 12v converter with a siren attached to it, and that's it.
