Have you noticed that it's growing on a mound.... ;)
BTW, speaking of tards, in my line of work we have the equivalent of train spotters. We call them bas..., sorry, bustards.
In my line of work, we have people who not only swear constantly (as is the norm) but also write down what they said and then discuss it incessantly. We call them custards.
Resistance is futile.

We have VBForums members that are dancers like MaxM that like to wear leotards.
I've never worn a leotard in my life, idiotard.
I'm very sorry. I try to be an intelligetard whenever possible.
Don't mind MM, he's getting angry because he's getting old and is realizing that he doesn't have a D40, more like a D0. I guess you could call him a d0tard. :afrog:
Are we talking about this by any chance?
Agreed :thumb: 25 Gigabytes of FREE storage (per address) + many of the features of Flickr. It's starting to look like more than just a MS gimmick....
If you've got SilverLight installed, you can put a link here that starts a slideshow....
(maybe a link to display a series of pics in a sig ??)
Thanks dude :)
There will be a whole bunch more when my new ISP get's me connected.
I went to Kedleston Hall at the weekend and took about 125 photos, I'll be uploading about 16 of them (eg the best ones) as soon as I can.

Niiiiiiice. How much running around did you have to do to get that shot?
I did what I think you are doing (and I still do it) - take hundreds of photos, upload a few. I think that's a good strategy because
a) It's a digital camera, you can view and delete
b) If you take a large number of photos, the chance of finding good photos increases statistically, as you've seen above.
c) I have one which I'll upload tomorrow which was an in-the-moment thing, same principle (take lots, one good). I think you'll like it. You might even lick your screen.
As promised... well, not promised, but mentioned. I guess this one takes on the same principle - taking lots of photos will get you a few good ones:

Nice one is that mendhak. Best seen at full res :thumb:
So you're too shy to use a tripod, but will happily lie down in a flowerbed ?
I bought myself a tripod last night :D
£92 for basically a few bits of aluminium. :eek2:
It's amazing what a difference it makes. Last night (1am) I was outside on the patio taking photos of the Moon and some stars.
I put the shutter on a very long (20-30 seconds) setting and pointed it at a bright star, zoomed right in and click.
The photo was - at first glance - blurred, but then I realised that the focus was perfect. The stars were streaked slightly because the earth was rotating during the long exposure!!! Science in action :D. I tried replicating that same shot without the tripod and the result was not pretty.
I therefore conclude that the earth is a torus shape.
Is it platinum plated and encrusted with diamonds :eek2:.
Mine (Hama) cost about £15 - 20 off eBay. I can wind up the height till the viewfinder is at forehead height . You could save yourself some brass by asking in the social group first.
Wait a minute............, have you just won the lottery and aren't telling us ???? :afrog:
BTW, due to my medding, the link to the pic in post #57 is broken . Sorry, I won't do it again.
This is similar to mine...

Are you going to take it out in public? :ehh:
Mendhak your photographs serve as excellent background images for my phone!

Is that HTC?
You have 49 unread emails. 49! How busy could you possibly be?
Yeah its HTC. Actually I have over ten thousand unread emails. 99% of which are thread subscription notifications from VBForums. Thats mainly what I use that email account for..I have "serious" account aswell.
I shot about 120 pictures today, uploaded 19 good ones
Here is my favorite:

How can a young pup like you afford a D40 ? Did you steal it ?
I've already lived 3 of your lifetimes. Cross referencing the pics EXIF info with police records show where you lifted the D40 from...
Nice pics btw....
It is my dads camera. He is lets me use it when i want.
The pics were taken in my front/back yard. I would like to go shooting in a nice park...
I just bought the D60 today. I am so in love with it so far. After using point and shoots forever, it was a total shock all the options and settings. But after playing with it all day, I am starting to get a good handle on it.
I have an 18-200. It cost twice as much as the camera and is 3 times as heavy. I've had to hire an arm just to hold it when I go out.
I think I'll get a 55 -250. The 18 - 55 I got with mine is ok but a bit limited. But first I have to rob someone.
Grrrr. Hate it when this happens. You buy a gadget, and a few days later you hear about the possiblity of a new improved version

Everything changes. I remember food/petrol rationing and watching B&W TV. You youngsters today...Quote:
earlier rumors suggest this entry-level dSLR will feature a 12.3-megapixel sensor that also captures HD video
Sure, why not? ...oh you mean the tripod. Yeah I took it to Carsington Reservoir yesterday and attempted to take a panorama of the shoreline. It was a bit overcast so the pictures are a bit crappy but it certainly works well.
Nobody batted an eyelid at me. I think people generally try not to be conspicious when there's a photographographer around, in case they are immortalised in image form with a funny look on their faces.
I made myself a shoulder strap for my tripod out of an old sports-holdall clip-on strap. Use one end to clip onto the tripod's carry hook and the other end of the strap (with the sliding length adjuster buckle) can be used like a noose that you can put around the tripod's legs to hold them all together. It's very comfy and inconspicuous. Nobody seems to notice it.
The reservoir was packed with thousands of people, many of them photographographers themselves! I saw a couple of others with tripods too, although I didn't get chance to strike up conversations with them. Maybe next time, photographographers are a friendly lot. :D
I'm after a few new accessories too, a zoom lense and a circular polarising filter. I hate having no real zoom ability with this standard lens. But I'll have to wait a few months for the lens because my photographography budget is now well and truly empty.
Book recommendation: "Digital Photographer's handbook" By Tom Ang. (Notice how they spelled photographographer wrong :D) £25 is a bit pricey but it's a very glossy book and there are some boobies in it.
In other news, I still have no bloody interwebz at home  I've got a stockpile of about 60 photos I want to upload but I canneh.
I blame BT... for everything, ever.
I'm looking at probably 2 more weeks of weblessness :cry::cry::cry:
Phew. The D5000 is a replacement for the D90 not the D60. So I don't bad now. :thumb:
I wonder if anyone has ever thought of or written an app for a Smartphone that will pull photos off a camera then let you upload then to Flickr over 3G? HmmQuote:

Thank goodness you were here to save the day and our spelling.
I've uploaded a few pics to keep my fans happy. See my signature...
Going to go buy the 55-200 lens today. Got frustrated yesterday when there was some possible great bird (some Swallows I think) shots I could take, but I could not get close enough without chasing them off. :( Damn anti social birds!
Hurrah, it's working! I'll check the traffic tomorrow.
Somewhat fast shutter speed (1/800), wide angle and the sun was setting and was visible directly behind the tree in the middle. You can get some pretty good effects if you point the camera at the setting/rising sun at fast shutter speeds and different apertures. Same applies to objects between the lens and the sun, you get good effects.
Don't know what camera you have or how to change filters on it, sorry... Are you a D40tard like us?
Yea I bought a compact P&S (Canon G10). My pictures are really great outdoors on a bright sunny day (with low ISO). But otherwise the pictures aren't really that great.
Next time I might buy a DSLR (Nikon seems to have the best reputation).
But for now, for my vacation to China, I wanted a good quality compact for traveling.
I've found that all compacts suffer at nighttime, I guess that's something you'll have to accept... or just find something to stabilize it on and make sure you don't shake. :D Didn't you buy yours just recently? Have you looked at all the settings available to you? I say that because if you mess around enough you can get good non-daylight photos. Look at a few examples.
Where are you going in China?
