My pics won't win any contests because I'm hindered by my crappy camera (Kodac Easyshare DX430) which cannot hope to compete with any of the photo's uploaded so far, the jpeg compression algorithm was apparently written by a colourblind, retired, illiterate sweatshop worker.
Mine were from a Kodak EasyShare C350.....

I've changed the rules (I can do that :)). The contest will end at 9:00 PM PST, December 23rd.
How do you vote?
I'm going to provide a link to a SurveyMonkey survey (like a poll here but more sophisticated) where you will be able to vote for your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices.Quote:

Hey Martin, can I make a suggestion? Could you move the link to the gallery up to the first post, to make it easier to find it... I had problems finding it just now (eventually did).

Good idea. Done.Quote:

I'm not a flickr expert and I don't know if this needs resizing but here's my single and humble contribution
Fruit
Do I need to do something to make that "work"?
Nope, copied to ImageEvent.Quote:

Whats the photography like in your area of the world?
awesome. I need an SLR.
anyone willing to donate?
In my area of the world you can't see the sun until 8am. Till 7am it stays hidden behind fog and after that it stays hidden behind building.Quote:

My town is in the suburbs of a very big city and just after a few miles you can smell village life. So, serious photographers take advantage of both worlds.
Just opposite (south) of my house there is a large piece of land with lots of trees, a park, open fields etc. As it is the only open air area in the town, people love to come there during afternoon hours. And PhoneShooters like me just shoot whatever we like - beautiful sunset or beautiful girls.
My sunset photo was taken there.
I hope our stories don't end up here.
btw Comic Sans rocks.
@Pena
I like the Windows picture
My 2 cents:
The path
The forest

All taken in my city: Oporto, Portugal

Wow, your place is awesome! The river reminds me or Avon River in NZ minus the willow trees.Quote:

Also once you have a picture enlarged you can Prev/Next through them or run a slide show.
I took the poll and it said results will be posted wednesday.
Does this mean we cannot vote anymore after that? With Christmas and all I think we'll be lucky if 5 people vote.
Good point, I'll change it to Friday.
1) I don't SEE the poll.... just the submissions... and 2) The post reads that voting would begin Jan 1.... did that get moved up?

You may also want to change the thread title to indicate that voting is now open... something like
Photography Contest - VOTING NOW OPEN ZOMG!!!1111111 :eek2:
See post #1 for both, but here is where you can vote.Quote:

@Oceanebelle- The bird in your 5th photo is a Magpie. Really common birds in Australia, and apparently NZ. In fact, a bunch of magpies sit on the powerlines outside my house and crap all over my car. At least they used to until I started parking somewhere else.
metal
Magpies are fairly common in the UK too. Very intelligent birds in fact.
Magpies use Linux, whereas pigeons just crash into windows.
(LOLe)
Done
so when do i get my prize?
When wossy becomes a mactard.
I'm going to post the results at around 9:00 PM Pacific time. BTW only 22 people have voted so far which is disappointing, so tell your friends!
mendhak doesnt have any friends
The rest haven't voted out of professional envy.
I had a friend once, but he pretended he was imaginary just to get rid of me.Quote:

hey Martin, i went ahead and posted an announcement under your name about the contest, hope you dont mind.
Bad news. I've discovered what appear to be some voting irregularities. I've contacted several of the people who voted and before I post results or do anything else I'm going to wait a while to give them time to respond.
You mean everyone voted for me? That's not entirely implausible.

Magpies are meant to be bad luck. But I don't care.
