Hey Ben..... that was just for your personal use;)
Sorry snogmuffin, I should have kept it quiet. ;)
Ok people, it's time for some furious diploming ( ) now I'm back - I need to devise some orders. :D
Ah, back online... but, for how long?
* Bump *
Deadline in just under 26 hours...
No-one seems to be talking, so I'll just devise my own strategy based on the most bloodshed.
It's time to drop the hammer, and dispense some indiscriminate justice!!!!
...its only you that they'er not talking to. Be afraid, Be very afraid...
I'll have more time on my hands after this week (probably), so Germany is staying neutral until Monday :)
Just as a note of caution:
I have played several games of diplomacy in the past and it is my experience that those players who talk (to the other players) the most, tend to do better. Those that go it alone tend to get picked on.
They don't call this game "Diplomacy" for nothing!
Hmm, the Germans are there for the taking!Quote:

In most games, countries tend to remain neutral as each player concentrates on aquiring neutral supply centres in the first year. It's not always the case however...

I've have dealings with most of the players who are related to me, I've also had polite chats with those who don't affect me just yet. If I haven't spoke to you, I've disregarded you as a threat.
Have a nice day.... :)
OK.
All orders are in and maps are updated on my site. No retreats so we're straight onto the next orders phase. Deadline next Wednesday (7-Aug-2002).
Continue your diplomacy! :)
Too bad it isn't a world map ...
Don't worry Wally, no one's taken Belgium yet! ;)
I suspect no-one will either :)
All your base are belong to..... ah - never mind.
Hmmmm..... time to start mailing people I think... :)
Not getting much response to my emails guys... :(
Are we still playing, too busy, didn't receive them, or just ignoring me on purpose as a strategic move?
:)
If you've mailed me, I'll reply later on today when I get in work.
Mint! I have to get up for work in 4 hours. Bingo - maybe I should to bed....?
Yeah, I'm getting your replies. Haven't heard much from a few others though...Quote:

They probably don't like you.
Best to ally with mighty Mother Russia and stomp the rest of the peasants underfoot.
I'm all for Democracy as long as it doesn't interfere with Communism. :)
Hey! Everyone likes me... :(Quote:

...don't they...?
My orders have been submitted to high command.
My mighty Legions of Terror shall march across the landscape, raping and pillaging and plundering and pruning and tidying up and polishing and YEAH!!!!!
22 hours to go until the next deadline. Orders please!
You have my orders.
TASTE MY SAVAGE FURY!!!!!!
Somebody needs to get there orders in fast!
Does anybody know where Gary.Lowe is?
He has not submitted his orders this turn and I don't want to be too strict about enforcing the deadline this early on in the game.
I've e-mailed him but had no reply so far...:(
yikes... he was around earlier I think, maybe he got caught up at work..
Just don't post the orders and I am sure no one will mind if you wait til you speak to him :)
OK, I'll wait for a few hours and see if he gets in contact.
I don't know if anybody has read the rules in detail, but there is a "civil disorder" rule that states that if a player fails to submit orders, their units are considered to be in dis-order. They will remain where they are and if any are dislodged, they get disbanded (as opposed to being able to retreat).
Anyway, we'll give him a bit more time and if anyone sees him, give him a nudge! ;)
anyone wiped out yet ? :)
OK, I still haven'y heard from Gary.Lowe but, rather than impose the penalty, as it is so early on in the game, I will extend the deadline by twentyfour hours (or sooner if I receive orders before then). If I still have received no orders by 14:00 tomorrow, I shall proceed with a NMR. The Austrian/Hungarian government will collapse and civil disorder will reign supreme.
Instead of disbanding his units if you wish I can make objective moves on his behalf looking at the board from his perspective and making the best retreats I deem possible. I'm sure he'd prefer that to units being disbanded and the penalty seems a little harsh considering we're all newbies.
Gary's a little tied up at the moment and will resume communications as soon as possible.
Well, I said I would give him twenty four hours.
He would only have to disband units that were dislodged anyway.
And, with all due respect, being a neighbouring country, I don't think you're that objective. ;)
Yeah, I don't think Arbiter is the best choice. :p
Anyway, the whole point of the game is interaction - you won't know what he's had planned. Just give him more time, then proceed with a dispand. I don't mind waiting.
:)
So, have we heard from Gary yet?
:)
Not yet.
I've got a job interview this afternoon so, when I get back from that, hopefully we will have heard something...
No worries. Good luck. :)
Well, still no sight nor sound from Gary...:(
Is there anyone opposed to suspending the deadline indefinitely until he finally gets his orders in?
Alternatively, if there is a volunteer (someone not already playing) who will fill in for Gary temporarilly, I will let them send in moves on his behalf until such time as Gary shows up again.
I don't have a problem with that suggestion:)
Are you lot planning world domination, or am I missing something here ?
Sorry guys
Just got back from Austria
Simon I've sent my orders, hope i'm not too late.
*slaps wrist*

Great, I have now updated the board.
Gary, you didn't really go to Austria, did you? Want to get a feel for the country you were playing? :)
Interesting... very interesting...
Just realised that ID that Frenchy bugger didn't gain control of Spain this round. I didn't realise that you had to have a force in the territory to claim it after fall, rather than just be the last force to enter the territory in that year... wonder if ol' Frenchy knew this too?
Well, it's in the rules...;)
Anyway, I feel sorry for Germany who failed to gain a build for Denmark.

Ya
I have been going back and forth there over tha last 2 or 3 months. Working in Vienna.
I havn't had any net access as they have moved to new offices and the test lab I am in doesn't have the access
For anyone who goes over there. Night clubs are not night clubs like here. There are all lap dancing clubs:eek:
Doh!
Bit of bouncing goin on :D
Mmm... they have been rather surprising in their movements...Quote:

Bottoms :)
[Mad scientist voice] Aha! Mine invenshun ist vorking und I shall rule ze vorld! MWUHAHAHAHA *cough, cough* HAHAHA!!! [Mad scientist voice]
Build orders are submitted now. I'm still concerned that the software that runs my weapons systems appears to have been coded in Vienna.....
I still need build orders from Dragonfly and InvisibleDuncan.
I have a suspicion DF may not be very involved in this game any more... since she only has one place that she can build, why not just whack a unit in there for her?
And I reckon I can guess IDs build order too... ;)
:D
Well, hopefully we'll get all the orders in so there is still some diplomacy time before the next deadline.Quote:

There is only one location in which Turkey can build but they need to choose between an army or a fleet.Quote:

It's a slow old game this one.
Are we still working on a Wednesday deadline? The builds haven't been done it seems... this is hampering the diplomacy... :p
Ooops (blush) sorry everyone...rj is right.. I have been kind of distracted
Could you please make it an Army Simon :) thank you and sorry for the delay
Apology accepted. ;)
Are you still involved in the game, or do you wanna hand it off, or is ked back?
That would be me thenQuote:
