There's a delicacy which I believe to be South African (Durban in fact) called a BunnyChow. It's a half loaf of fresh crusty bread, with the bread scooped out and the hollow filled with curry. Then you squash the bread back in to make a sort of pie. Brilliant but messy. Um, delicacy might not be the right word. I believe it was invented by a guy named Bunny who had a takeaway, and his clientele asked for something they could eat on the move.
My wife had an Indian colleague in her first ever job after school, and this lady taught my wife some pretty good cooking too.
Our next door neighbours are Muslim, and every night we get this disgustingly brilliant smell of cooking wafting over the wall. Give them their due, every now and then they send their daughter over with a plate of goodies!
There's a pretty large indian population in SA, isn't there?
