no, my hiding code does not make an icon in the tray, but it is intended to be this way... i want it to run completely invisible in the background...

it would be too hard to give a list of all php codes and their functions... cuz i want to run pre-written code i would have to go through, and figure out line by line what every piece of code does... so ill just leave it the way it is, it will run html just fine...

But a function that could list up every file in a specific folder as links on a site...would have been great..hehe..

And maybe some SEARCH script too.. To search for files or info inside files... I will need some time,but I guess that i will look into that too...

the dirlist function also sounds great... that way it could run semi-like an ftp server
search script might be hard, but it would be cool...
another thing, we need logs... u can just record everything that shows up in the log txtbox, and i might try to create a program to read it a lil later...
I will soon intnerggrate that into the main window of the server aswell...
But here it is...with logging.. If you move or delete the log file then it will simply create another one..with the same name...
It creates it in the app folder..
hm... does it send the log anywhere yet??

You could use the MS Script Control to do server side VB/Java Scripting.

Here is a quick and dirty demo to using the MS Script Control. I believe that it supports VBScript and JavaScript, but if I remember correctly, you CAN write your own modules that can execute other types of scripts.
In the demo, there is a script control, called SC, on the form. At form load, I add Text1 to the script control, with the alias "Text":
I also create and add a user created object, Class1, with one member, Hello():Code:SC.AddObject "Text", Text1
Also on the form is Text2, and a command button. Type your command in the textbox, as you would in normal VB code, and press the button to execute the command:Code:clsX = new Class1
SC.AddObject "X", clsX
Would change the text in Text1 to "Hello!".Code:Text.Text = "Hello!"
The AddCode method also allows you define complete VBScript Procedures, which can be called from the script control as well. The ExecuteStatement Method takes a single string, and executes it (just like the AddCode method when you pass it a statement).
Thats just a quick overview of the control for you. In your case, you can parse your html files for tags like <server_script></server_script>, and execute what is between them.

PS: what version of VB are you using,, Im using VB6 nad im not sure if all this code is backwards compatible as i cannot try it in anything else that VB6..
PS: download the VBruntimes if ou dont have VB6...

What I did was read the file line by line, and looked for <%
When <% was found, it started filling a variable with each line until %>. Then it's sent to to ms's scripting runtime. I made a class file, and then set the scripting runtime to call the class when ever local. is used. That's how I send output to the web broswer through the scripting language.

I have seen that the HTTPserver (mine) is not supporting frames,
nor does it support the
<html><body background="somepic.jpg">
It can load a pic into the background,on the first page displayed, but if you have it on more than one side, it will somehow fail to loda the pic into the back,, Also with frames, it's supported locally, but not if someone else is trying to access the server!
I've tried from a very remote computer (not on my lan) and it didnt show the frames? but on my lan it does?
Do anybody care to find those two bugs.. I cannot seem to find them....

To what I know about MS Script Control, your not going to be able to support ASP. What your going to be able to support is VBScript with ASP like features.
Ex:
VBScript doesn't support Request() like ASP does. You have to create a object (I use classes) with a Request() function, thus becoming Object.Request() and not Request().
If anyone does know a way to bypass this, do reply :)
Also, the reason your HTTPd doesn't support backgrounds and frames, is that your server only supports one connection. Use a control array (look at my server for a example) to support multiple connections. Most webbrowsers open up another connection for every element of the page (Pictures, Frames, etc).

You would have to write your own script plugin to be able to use ASP/PHP. Other then that, its is a really easy control to use. Just experiment around with it.

yeah... i looked at possible php implementation, but i just don't know how, or have the experience i would need to make it work...
any progress lately??... i've been too busy to try to look again at the php implementation...

But also i need to understand arrays and so, inorder for the server to work as expected and to be able to serve graphics and
frames, and other stuff... so that it will work as needed!

i know its been a long time since there were any posts in this thread, but i think i solved the router problem... first, open port 80 on your firewall (if you need instruction on how to do this post at www.turtletips.com/forums because i don't hardly check these forums anymore... then navigate to http://www.turtletips.com/whoami/ (sign up at the forums while your their)... the ipaddress next to where it says ip address is the ip that people will need to navigate to in order for them to connect remotely... i will try to implement this script into the code as soon as possible so you do not need to go somewhere else to find the correct ip.... the problem w/ the ip you were using before is that it is your local ip, used to connect to your computer through the LAN, the ip found on that site will be the remote ip where the page will be served to other people from. This is the same with any other application (ftp server, or any other server) that runs as a server.
