I can't see it on Multimap - Nearest I've come to it was spending three months restoring the otter path on Raasay - Which was also glorious.Quote:

Right on the coast, just North of Gairloch. :) Not far from Raasay, actually...
Duncan, Just out of interest, why did you come down sarf for (;)) from one end of the country to the other ?
Lets add yet another layer of bureaucracy to our already bloated system of government. We've been stripping local councils of their power for a long time, to only add another layer. That is just stupid. We don't need more politicians - the ones that we already have are completely ****e.
(Sorry to get back on topic!)
Rsingh
Personally, I'd rather adopt new regional assemblies and drop local councils. They really are a bunch of beurecratic wasters.Quote:

Hey Dunc, my dad is from Lewis and i have family in Applecross. Gorgeous neck of the woods - plenty of sheep.
td.
You could do that, but you'd probably want government subsidy for the rocks and labour :pQuote:

Thats not really necessary since almost the entire border runs along the river Tamar.Quote:

We just have to destroy a few bridges! ;)
Well you won't mind when all the multinationals (if there are any!!) move out, when you no longer get any goods from anywhere because you blew up the bridges (and any that do get there would be 10x the price because of the logistic problems and the fact you have **** all purchasing power), when you get Iraq nuking the bejesus out of you because you ain't got any kind of defense whatsoever (they desperatly want to hurt Britain, they don't care if you don't see yourself as part of it) and when your tourism industry completely dies because nobody can get there without a lot of hassle.
Yeah, fan-****ing-tastic idea sunshine, rock on that man, give the dude a medal.
 Chris is definitely having a bad day.
Anyway I go with Simonm, local councils suck, you should see all the **** that's going on in Weston-Super-Mare :(
Bloody hell, it cencored s-h-1-t !
I'm just being deliberatly facetious ;)Quote:

Applecross is great - one of the most stunning approaches you could ask for. The new coast road's gorgeous, but not a patch on coming over Bealach Na Bá. I've always loved that sign:Fills you with confidence, does that...Quote:
This road rises to a height of 2053 Ft. with gradients of 1 in 5 and hairpin bends.
NOT ADVISED FOR LEARNER DRIVERS, VERY LARGE VEHICLES OR CARAVANS.
ROAD NORMALLY IMPASSABLE IN WINTRY CONDITIONS
yeah, i been over it when the fog was as thick as pea soup. Loads of fun.
My dad was crossing last year with his brother, who was driving in big boots, and he hits the accelerator instead of the break on the approach to a hairpin, absolutley ****e himself!
td.
I had a hairy moment a few Christmases back. Got caught in a blizzard while we were stopped at the top and had to slither all the way down the hairpin stretch. Feck me it was nervy.
Following Norman Tebbit's instructions, I got on my bike and came looking for work. ;)Quote:
