V nice chap...
I have a question which may lead to an offer...
You say you're using the VB WinSock control, but you don't support WAN type connections. I'm guessing you're using UDP for the discovery ??
If this is not the case, and you're infact doing the discovery via IPX could you please email me; [email protected] I'm certain I'll be interested in buying your IPX code.
That goes for anyone out there, if you have working IPX discovery code and can give me a working demo app I'll definatley be very interested.
Cheers,
yes i am using UDP for the discovery, and since it is a LAN based program, i most likely will not add support for WAN based connections. but thx for the compliment :p
np :)
It is a nice tool :D
wow its been a long time since someone posted in this thread. anyway, im just asking for some people to test my new version, 2.4, and tell me what they think of it (especially the audio streamer :D). any replies would be great. thanks in advance TheSarlacc.

Click here to download version 2.4.
I will test it later this week...
Don't have time atm due to school
Icheb
version 2.5 is out. try it out.
Download LeAN OVER v2.5 here.
Are there any new features ?Quote:
your link doesn't work.
could you upload it again , i wish to test your app (we have a 40 comp LAN here).
the link is correct. but here it is again. :p

v2.5 is mostly improvements on v2.4.Quote:

basically the biggest improvement is the change in the way messages and file requests are displayed. (sort of ICQ style now; they flash in the system tray) it makes for a neater program. :)
and the next biggest thing is the ability to choose the sampling rate when streaming. i am having trouble making variable bit rates and mono streams work, thats why these are not changeable yet.
check the version history in the program for a full list.
i have downloaded and installed your app on 2 computers (connected in the same switch - the dns server is one switch away.).
but they couldn't see each other.
both runnin win2k sp3
directx 8.1
tcp/ip
ipx/spx
netBEUI
installed on both
we have dhcp enabled.
the "compiling of computer available computers" takes about 2 mins at least...
from time to time i get "error reading from .ini file"
i guess that's ok since i didn't check "save settings for all future LeAn sessions"
if u need more info let me know.
i hope this helps.
i tried to uninstall and install again,...but i got some errors.
here's a snap shot.
....then ,.. all my opened apps crash....one by one.
damn...
yea im sorry about the installer problems. i have no control over that since VB does it for me :( i dont know a standalone language that can let me make my own setup.
i have removed any message boxes that may appear during startup and all messages appear in the history box.
as for the program not seeing both computers, basically whatever network neighbourhood sees is what my program will. i may have to test it on 2 win2k machines, but i can assure u that it works on Win NT and Win95/98.
does the streaming work fine though?
since we couldn't see each other with your program, we couldn't test if the streaming is working...i did manage to start it on my comp, but i couldn't see if it really works.
i'm having a hard time now convincing the other dudes to install your program now with all those problems we got.
a,...hell, i'll just wait for them to leave :D
i think your app can be a good one,...just needs some tweaking.
cheersl
You are not a registered user on this forums. How do you expect us to trust you not to give us a virus in that file??
crpietschmann: Due to a server crash, many users lost all their posts and were demoted to "Guest". In fact, many users with sub-100 posts used have have anywhere from 100 to 5000 posts before said crash :(
omg lolQuote:

thanks for that. was wondering why my posts disappeared.
 anyway, just posting to let any users using my program that it only works on win9x machines because i havent obtained network enumerating code that works on NT/Me/2k/XP. when i get it, ill adapt it and post an update.
oh man...and now you're tellin....
[edit]
..anyway, when u r done with that, let us know...
i still want to test your program.
[/edit]
i have obtained the necessary code to make it work on all windows versions, so i will begin working on it and shall post an update hopefully within 1-2 weeks. sorry it will take long, but im a busy year 12 student :(
hey i finally have a beta version up and running. i just need a few people with a combo of Win95/98/Me and NT/2k/XP machines to test it out and see if the problem has been fixed. if u find any bugs, just post them or email me them. thanks for ur co-operation, TheSarlacc.
Download here.
wot features does it have?
uhh havent u asked that question already?
anyways, here u go:
-audio streamer
-file transfers
-IM
-internal file sharing system
-icon tray event handling (messages, transfer requests)
-3 built-in small games
-auto reply
-auto version check
-local port scanner
-ignore list
just incase u dont already know, its only a LAN based program. It won't work over the internet.
awwwwww no-one? i would test it myself, but i dont have access to any WinNT,2000, or XP machine at home. i only got.......wait for it......2 Win98 machines.
/me is in the crew of a lan party, if we are going to use it we might use it while the IRC server is down on our windowze clients....
well if u do end up using it, could u let me know what u thought of it?
Ok, thats a deal ;)Quote:

Has Filburt1 given in yet?
heh well i would say yes since he hasnt replied in this thread for quite some time.
dude no offence, sorry if im wrong but it seems like everyone who shows that they have been registerd (sp) since Dec of 69 all seem to be you. exspesialy (sp) DaoK when he responded to himself with an answer you should have given him.
Quote:
um...DaoK, if you actually read the previous posts, you'll see that I said the same thing and he gave me a link to download the OCX
is that a question or a statement? because i don't understand what you just wrote. either its your post, or i have no caffeine in my system. :p
