I did not have a problem when doing convert c: /fs:ntfs on my computer. You just can't use convert to go back to FAT32. But I was glad to see s****y FAT32 go away.Quote:

Dude, it does not mess with the files on the OS or alter them! I did it on my drives several times, I would know...

I didn't say alter them and I never said you are wrong, it is just that you need to word your sentences a little better so that it don't look like that a NTFS is no biggie. why do they say backup if it doesn't mess with the files. if it screws up for some unknown reason, power outage, anything, you are screwed. time fo ra format.Quote:

don't act like the partition table is no big deal, it basically runs you OS.
And I don't doubt you about the convert, since I have never done it. just don't act like it is no biggie on doing it.

You can have a corrupted partition table and still run an OS... after I decided to install 2k(But before I actually installed it) I tried to delete all my current partitions, but there was one that just wouldn't go away.. I had to install 2k, then install partition magic, and when I started PM it said that the partition table was corrupted..... it fixed it though....

it all depends on where the corrupt is.
My machine booted Win98 fresh install in about...20 seconds after ATA/100 bios detection.
2K takes about 40 seconds...grr...

:D that is how mine boots up with all my crap too. that is why I don't have any problems with '98. it is not slow to me.
