unbeta
i love that word :D :D :D
Useless - ignore it !
okay, I admit, I've been using it for about a month (pro & home editions). The actual one is out OCTOBER 25th & will be the same price as the others - £100 ish.
Leave it, everythings done for dumbasses - looks nice (questionable that bit) & hide all the functionality, MS have done a u turn & are basically saying "here you go, this os works, and there's lots of pretty screens you can look at, but you won't bugger this one up & call our support so much"
I like UMBONGO !Quote:

WINDOWS XP SUCKS but
i will have the Windows XP Beta version tomorrow :) :)
i heard XP was gonna be $30
according to the review of RC1 done by AnAndTech.com, it really really sucked. You need a machine that was 1.3x better to get the same performance.
im good with 2k. now only if i can get OpenGL to work...
ROTFLMAO! An MS OS under $100? Yeah, right!Quote:

Microsoft Produnt (VB, VC, VS, VJ, OS, etc.) under $100!!! That's a new one on me.
right on, XP is Win2k for newbies who don't know their RAM from a floppy diskQuote:

On a Tech forum i use, somebody said something like the following.BTW: Windows 98 SE seems to install with some option which does not show files in the Windows folder. Instead you get a Picture box which includes a message saying you can hurt the system by fooling with these files. There is a place to click if you want to see the files in spite of the warning. After you have viewed the files a few times, Explorer relents and displays the files just as for other folders.Quote:
They tried to make XP idiot proof and merely made it difficult to use.
Might XP get less idiot proof with use?
um, what's a floppy disk  :DQuote:

Not really Guv  , it saves the screens & options that you've been in before, so if you've managed to sieve through the crap & actually find the useful windows settings it's a bit easier the second time, but on the whole, not really.
win98 - best for games (ME's crap too)
win2000 - best for work
sorted !
Well WinXP has 4 versions... Home Personal, Professional, Server, Advance Server.
in order of
$90-98
$199-213
$400-413
$1023-1040
No, it's not gonna be better than Win2k Pro.
What does XP stand for anyway ? Xtra Pathetic ? :p :p :p :p
Who in their right mind would want to run a server on XP?
I've never found that it gets used to it, 98 just asks me every time unless I turn off the 'view folder as web page' option. Maybe I'm missing something? Win2k at least asks you only once, the first time after it starts that you go into the folder, and it doesn't ask you again unless you restart.Quote:

I doubt if XP will be any less protective than 98 already is, I am more inclined to expect double the number of warning screens.
I was quite annoyed when Win2k warned me 'there is no need to change these files' when I looked in Program Files for the first time. I find it mildly insulting somehow, as if it's saying I'm stupid.
well we didn't like to say ...
:D
I'm definitly sticking to 98
Ha, Actually it means Xtra Porno:)
Nah, it means eXPerience.
I hate WinXP(Beta2).
I mean the ICONs are all big and stuff(in the folder view). You can change it for once, but when you view that folder again, it still is that large...
It's basically for beginners, in our world, it's considered BABIES:)
So they must design a crap for "Adults" like us:), but though I'm only 12.
