What do you mean it's very different from native code?Quote:

Anyway, there's a screenshot of the insides of Arien's PassProg. :D
So somebody actually made an app to look at all that stuff?? How'd u get it?
A friend of my dad's is a programmer in some company so he got me this debugger from NuMega, it's called SmartCheck, and it's especially for VB, it's a part of a bundle called DevPartner, but it costs tons of bucks so I don't get to keep the CD. :( :(
Oh, it's a debugger..I should've guessed that much...
All that extra info is probably for debugging..but that's just a guess..

modRegistry
frmUpdate
frmTipOfTheDay
frmClipboardText
frmOptions
modMatrixSort
frmEnter
I also found stuff like this:
tcnMain_RightClick
txtInfo_Change
You used CallByName, didn't you?
Nope, used a hex editor (kindly provided by dennis)
No, I was asking if filburt used CallByName in his program. Because CallByName would need that kind of information. But I forgot he ws using VB5.
I used a hex editor too
I just compiled PassProg 1.0.3, you guys can tear it apart tomorrow once I upload it.
PassProg 1.0.3 has been uploaded. Ignoring the fact that you already know the seed, try to figure it out again.
2.3 MB HTTP Download: http://usa.internations.net/cyber/fi...d/passprog.zip
Shoot, it won't let me upload anymore. Grr, try here in about 5 mins: http://www.liquid2k.com/filburt1/passprog/passprog.zip .
 It still won't work. Just a moment...
Here. First make sure you have PassProg installed, then replace the EXE that comes with PassProg with this one in this ZIP (150 KB download): http://usa.internations.net/cyber/fi...ssprog/exe.zip
I suppose it's unbreakable. :)
BTW, if you find out the seed, do not post it here. Send me a private message instead.
Well, this is not "advertising", it is requesting help for the development of my program.
Old thread... but...
Cracked it :D
Pretty easy to crack... Don't use an ocx to encrypt... hard code it.
I'll pm you the keygen I made...
still even if its hardcoded it wont take long to crack again
Longer then using an ocx, you have to go through the encryption that's used if you hard code the encryption...
So basically what this thread established is that VB's compiler is crap. Doesnt that makes a VB programmer smile... :p
Thief you took my idea, I am a prog that did the same thing two years ago. I lost the source code anyway and yours looks better.Quote:

or
http://usa.internations.net/cyber/fi...d/passprog.zip (~2 MB)
well its not a problem, might take a little longer, but all you have to do is catch it at the last stage of encryption (or the first in somecases)Quote:

hmm well i have a first period spare right now i will try to find holes for you ok :) i like doing this kinda crap. It really isn't that hard to see whats inside VB programs, there are many many partial decompilers out there for VB6
uh ok none of your links work :)
oooh i got an index out of bounds, although that is on the old version, since none of the links work, i still got an index out of bounds! i win! and if that is fixed on the version i can't download then i might be able to crack the password.
I cracked it too, although at the time i didn't realise that Hampster had. It really isn't that hard to crack
Would you folks mind explaining a little bit about how you cracked the program. I am not interested in Filbert's algorithm but I am curious on better ways to right code that would keep our programs from being hacked. This could be a good learning experience for us all, unfortunately at Filbert's expense.
I will explain exactly how i cracked it, if filburt gives his permission first, get him to give me his permission and i will tell you
Uh no, I still want a shred of honesty in one person out there
Then is it possible to get some ideas as to what we could avoid so that we don't fall into pit falls. I know this is tough without revealing what happen in this case but if there is there is a way that would be a help.
Thanks
hehehe....run Fusion and Crunch from Bit-Arts on it.:D
Then, put up a MD5 check.;)
Everybody exploited the fact that I used an OCX, and in the earlier versions at least hard-coded the encrytion seed.Quote:

well even if you hadn't used an OCX, that is relatively weak encryption, it is still breakable even though it is hard coded
wait was the encryption seed in the OCX somewhere? I found it using the OCX but not in the OCXQuote:
