What a time to be alive!!!
Back to the SpaceForce topic... If it ever does materialize, I could only wish I would be a teenager, at that time, still thinking about a career. The idea of a SpaceForce, with its highly technical training, would be very enticing. Not to mention the advances SpaceX is making with reusable rockets, several decades from now we might have a SpaceForce mission resupplying research bases (automated, maybe not manned) on the moon.
A military veteran myself, the quality of training in technical career fields provided by the military is valuable. I can only imagine that such training for the SpaceForce may be even more so.
Anatomy of a Trump rally: 76 percent of claims are false, misleading or lacking evidence...

There is also some talk of a "Space Guard" now too. This would be analogous to the Coast Guard.
Lets not forget about the SIA (CIA), Space Intelligence Agency. SEMA (FEMA), Space Emergency Management Agency. SSS (SS) , the Secret Space Service.
I think maybe don't name that last one the SS. Might send the wrong message:eek:.
Well apparently "doomsday" is approaching:

You've got to love the funny voices they chose to put to the quotes of some of the cast of neoliberal characters featured though.
Existential threats seem to have one well known stooge of the right (sarcasm) concerned:

Well thanks to Trump, we at least have peace on the Korean peninsula now...according to him anyway.
Trump is meeting the Queen of England today. I wonder if he'll grab her by the...like he enjoys bragging about other women.
The meeting with Putin went fairly well
Now we can be sure the Russians did NOT interfere in the elections. It is a good feeling knowing we have a president that we can count on telling us the truth. I was starting to believe the liberal intelligence agencies and their obvious attempts to take away from our leader's' legitimacy. After all...why would Russia interfere?
Oh wait...National security adviser John Bolton said Tuesday that North Korea has not made progress toward denuclearization in a dismal acknowledgment that comes nearly two months after President Trump held a historic summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore.
I've never known Trump to tweet out the wrong info before
I'm sort of 50/50 on that. I think it was a good idea to engage with Korea as I believe that any dialogue is better than no dialogue. I wasn't convinced it was ever really going to work though. I simply don't see that Kim had much to gain by going along with it.
So I guess I'd say: Hats off for trying
I think it is closer to...that was a feeble asinine attempt at diplomacy that did nothing more than give a vicious dictator world class status. Had that been a summit that was a result serious agreements ready to be signed I'd agree. That was just a circus act.
Honestly, yes, I think it was a publicity stunt, I think almost all of Trump's political and diplomatic manoeuvres are. But I don't really care what the motivation is (within reason), I just care whether the outcome is desirable or not.
I'm not sure I agree on the legitimising a dictator bit. I see that argument used a lot but I can't think of how you can engage in any sort of diplomacy without legitimising the guy sitting across from you. So if you're going to avoid legitimising dictators you're basically left with two choices: oust them or let them run wild. History shows that neither of those options usually ends well.
I felt that the risk of the summit was slightly greater than any potential benefit. The fact of the summit was likely enough for the House of Kim to get the sanctions he really cared about...at least modified, if not lifted. He only really cared about what China was willing to do, as trade with China is all that really matters. China needed cover, the summit provided cover.
On the other hand, nothing has moved in decades, so the summit was at least a new approach. While I felt it was unlikely to work, it WAS something different, and was unlikely to do enough harm to really matter. The reason I thought the harm was unlikely to be very great was because I felt that China was looking for some way to ease sanctions to begin with, so the harm done would likely happen with or without the summit.
That depends on what you called "moved". If you call Trump's facade "moving" then as recently as February 29, 2012 there was "movement" when North Korea agreed to suspend nuclear tests and uranium enrichment, and said it will allow inspectors, in exchange for food aid. Two weeks later, North Korea announces plans to launch a satellite, which immediately unwinds the deal.Quote:

This link documents five other times there was "movement" very similar to Trump's recent establishment of peace on the peninsula.

I don't call Trump's facade moving. Prior to that, nothing had moved. By doing that, perhaps something could have moved. It hasn't. I'd say that the summit clearly accomplished nothing at all, but doing nothing would also accomplish nothing at all.
So, once again we are going to wait out a Kim. Once again, progress rides on a hearse.
Hi,
I just noticed that JMC's #Post's a reaching the 100.000, I think he should join the SpaceForce
what does one get when you reach 100.000 ?

Chris

Looks like they have picked the first crew...
FYI...the swastikas called a big stink:

It's funny that when fascists mock others they can't resist putting their thumbprint on it.
When I first looked at your cropped image I didn't spot it either but when you see the original, uncropped one, it sticks out like a sore thumb - I can't see how anyone would miss it.Quote:
Apparently he didn't spot the swastika.
It is also a emblem on the space suits. When I saw ChrisE's location is Frankfurt I assumed Germany. In the US we tend to spell it Frankfort. I think there are laws about swastikas there I was concerned printing it may be an issue so gave the heads up. I'm guessing the laws aren't the strict though.
Hi,
to be honest I didn't evan see the -swastikas-
regarding the laws in Germany..
do the Hitler's greeting(Sieg Heil) = you perhaps get looked up, definitely charged, a fine and a Visit in Court
so Tyson if I get in trouble I'll say you were fault
