Re: Official : "something went wrong" - Comments
Encountered this error today trying to post a reply to Open Dialog & the Fonts Folder. At first I thought there was a problem with the site, but I was able to reply to a different thread. So I went back, and tried editing the message, a couple times, then it posted, but truncated it halfway into the second sentence (just plain text at that point, but there was code tags a little farther in). I went to edit again and basically re-wrote the post, and the whole thing finally worked completely. I lost the original post but the code sample and structure was the same, it was the same thing in different words.

Re: Official : "something went wrong" - Comments
Ok that thread is still giving me that error, but nowhere else on the site. No matter what I tried I couldn't post it all... look at the last 2 posts in that thread, if I try to put the contents of the 2nd at the end of the first where it belongs, I get the error, and several characters are randomly truncated from the first (I can put those back in but not the rest of the sentence).
It's really infuriating, I don't understand how something like this could possibly happen.

Re: Official : "something went wrong" - Comments
I typed a reply then pressed Post Quick Replay button, the error popup, i pressed "Go Advanced" and submitted my reply without problem from advanced page.

While trying to reply to this thread (as well as a test thread where things partially worked), I got the dreaded

It wouldn't allow me to post it, I got the "Oops, something went wrong" error when trying to

Re: Official : "something went wrong" - Comments
Maybe zip the text file before attaching? If that doesn't work, maybe use 7zip to zip and encrypt the text file and post the password for it.

Also, note that replies are getting double-posted.

Re: Official : "something went wrong" - Comments
Perhaps only when you "Go Advanced"
-
Re: Official : "something went wrong" - Comments
Or...perhaps this has been fixed by now. But I saw it here (#51 and #52) and it was happening to me when I posted, and I noticed someone who posted to me edited his 2nd post and said <Duplicate>.

Re: Official : "something went wrong" - Comments
No, it has not been fixed, it just isn't consistent.

Steve R Jones, hi. Yes, you posted it somehow.
But, I can't:

Re: Official : "something went wrong" - Comments
You can subscribe the good ol fashion way...
Go to the Quick Reply Box
Type something
Click the Advanced Button
Click the Subscribe Button.
-
Re: Official : "something went wrong" - Comments
There are only "Submit reply" and "Preview post" buttons.
-
Re: Official : "something went wrong" - Comments
There is a drop down up top of the page of posts - "Thread Tools" - open that and you will see an option to subscribe.
-
Re: Official : "something went wrong" - Comments
szlamany, "Thread Tools" = "Something went wrong". See my attachment above.

Re: Official : "something went wrong" - Comments
Hi, Steve R Jones. I did that step. That two buttons are from Advanced view. I see no "Subscribe" button there (only combobox and checkbox in "Subscription" area).
-
Re: Official : "something went wrong" - Comments
checkbox in "Subscription" area
Doesn't that look like a winner to you:wave:

Re: Official : "something went wrong" - Comments
No, because I don't want to spam and offtop on every topic I want to subscribe (track).
To apply changes (besides marking that checkbox) I also need to press button "Submit reply" to take effect.
There is no such effect by pressing second button "Preview post".
I understand you experience multiple problems after updating engine.
But, users shouldn't be scientists and use different tricks just to use normal function on the normal place each forum has.
Thanks.

Re: Official : "something went wrong" - Comments
Dragokas - as far as anyone knows - You are the only person with this problem.... I was "attempting" to do an experiment but need YOUR cooperation.
PLAN B - try as many different Browsers as you have. I used Chrome and was able to subscribe to the post you mentioned.
-
Re: Official : "something went wrong" - Comments
Hi, Steve R Jones!
I thought that others do not write because they don't want to duplicate.
But, if it so, I'll try different browsers / OS.
Thank you.
BTW, I described several problems. Do you mean all of them related to me only?
--
EDIT.
I checked:
1) Subscription problem (Thread tools => Subscribe => Add subscription).
2) posting 'hxxp://' text problem, like hxxp://123 => Press "Advanced"
I disabled and unloaded my antivirus.
- in Chrome (Win 7 x64). I removed all extentions and reloaded browser. The problem still exist.
- in Firefox (Win 7x64). I disabled all my extensions. The problem still exist.
- in Safari (XPx32 VMWare). The problem still exist.
- in Edge (Win10x32 VMWare). The problem still exist.
I'm starting to doubt that I am the only person with these issues.

Re: Official : "something went wrong" - Comments
For the Subscription problem, does it only happen with one particular thread?
-
Re: Official : "something went wrong" - Comments
I checked different thread from random sections. It doesn't matter. The same issue with all.

We all do... it's a problem with the highlight plugin, it's a known issue, and as far as I know, it's being looked at.

Re: Official : "something went wrong" - Comments
As mentioned - the PHP errors are known and I hope you haven't been talking about them... We're in theory ONLY talking about the Something Went Wrong error.
-
Re: Official : "something went wrong" - Comments
I didn't go through this thread to see if something similar is going on so...sorry about that.
When I log on from home the site looks like it is under a big magnifying glass. Just a few words from the site take up the whole screen. All other sites I visit are fine. Any thoughts!
-
Re: Official : "something went wrong" - Comments
Does it get better and if so - what steps do you have to take?
When did it start?
What browser are you using?
Have you tried a different browser?
Did you make any changes to your pc prior to this issue starting?
In theory, you don't need to log off the site unless you're killing cookies... But there is an issue all of us are seeing if and when we log in.... We see multiple PHP Error messages....that is being worked on.

Re: Official : "something went wrong" - Comments

I just haven't been using the site from home.
When did it start?
I guess I noticed it a few days ago but I don't get in from home that often.
What browser are you using?
Google Chrome. Same as I am on right now.
Have you tried a different browser?
Nope...If I can't use Chrome I'll just stay off from home.
Did you make any changes to your pc prior to this issue starting?
I haven't but I allow automatic updates.
This is the only site with the issue that I have encountered. I was fine until the "upgrade". I was just asking to see if it was occurring to anyone else.
