Because Aussie rules was a game made up by 2 english settlers who had seen a group of aboriginies playing this game were they kick a wierd shaped type of ball made out af grass and leaves through 2 trees at either end.But they frop the ball onto thier feet directly(drop punt) or onto the ground kick it(drop kick).
I forget the name of the aboriginal game but they had been playing it for hundreds maybe thousands of years!!!!

I'm getting really pissed off about the umpiring of WA teams.
Did you see the umpiring of the Dockers game last week that was so **** 1 umpire on his own missed 7 blatent free kicks for the dockers but none for the opposition! All in the 2nd Half where the dockers lost the game! If even 3 or 4 of one umpires stupid decisions then we would of won!
And then the next week we get crappy umpiring again when we played Collingwood.
I betcha those umpires are victorian:)
