You might hear that sound when it's syncing.
Maybe you have your email configured on it?
I have two charging setups for the phone, one plugged into one of the computers USB ports and one in another room. I haven't heard the noise in a while and perhaps cooincidently I haven't had my phone charging via the USB post for a while. Hmmmm.
Well it's been several days since I stopped charging my IPhone via the computer's USB cable and I haven't heard any noise so far so I'm going to mark this as resolved (for now).
