Manual mode is not the same as a stick shift.

There are no requirements to know how to drive a stick shift car in order to be licensed to drive. As long as you pass your driving test in an automatic then they dont care what you drive as its the skill of knowing how to follow the rules of the road and not if you know how to drive all the types of transmissions.
I'm not even sure why 'driving stick' is considered a skill. What's there to know really. You go from first to fifth/sixth/seventh (how ever many you have), change up when revs get higher, press the clutch when changing. End of tutorial.
I'm camera shy. Would you be interested in being the presenter in my video tutorial? The job doesn't pay anything.
Practice is all thats required. knowing when to clutch and accelerate
There are several countries in the world, where an automatic tranny is considered a luxury item. I also believe that automatic trannies use a lot more gas than manual ones.
is it not a simple manual transmission with a clutch? (That's what I meant by manual mode) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manual_transmission
I believe this isn't true anymore, electronic systems are now very efficient. Also Pretty sure that ppl that are driving a car with manual transmission are pushing it to higher RPMs than necessary and use more gas actually.
Manual mode lets you change gears without having to press the clutch. It is called SPORTS mode in a lot of cars. There's no clutch, but you can simulate the feeling of driving a manual.
That's what I inferred from "manual mode".
Nissan 1400 - Pickup.
I call it the red devil.
Why, because it is red and I drive like the devil :D
Its engine is in mint condition, this pickup or "bakkie" as we call it in South Africa, is very very strong.
the picture doesn't do it any justice. Its body is not in a good condition, and there is a lot of work still to do inside and outside ( which now I'm busy with again ).
I love it.
The only con is that, well, it's not a family car. But it's an excellent machine!
Mr Devil,
How many tickets you have collected so far?
Watch out posting that big 50 x 50 picture. You don't want this page to take forever to load do you?
lol makes me laugh that you guys class 35 mpg as good economy... I get about 65 mpg in my car and its not some slow boring piece of crap, its a 2010 Seat Ibiza FR 2.0 TDI and it was £17000, not sure what that is in dollars. Its fun to drive, fairly quick, and has a decent amount of torque as well, though I'm getting it remapped soon so that it will have a little more ;)
Here's a couple of pics (I'm only 22 so its the first brand new car I've ever bought so trying to keep it clean and shiney at the moment :) wonder how long that will last) :

Oh and hardly anyone has automatics here in the UK - and whilst I would definitely agree that learning the rules of the road are far more important than knowing how to change gear, there is a bit more to it than just changing up when the revs get high.
Nice ride Chris and 65mpg!!! Takes me about 4 or 5 gallons to get that lol.
Oh and R6 FTW!!!
Chris,
How much do you pay for a gallon of petrol, in the UK?
No idea how much a gallon is but a litre of unleaded petrol is about £1.19 at the moment (which is high for here) and diesel is about £1.21 a litre
1 gallon = 3.79 liters
So you pay 3.79 x 1.19 = £4.5101
which is US Dollars 7.31
Here on the East Coast, we are paying less than 3 dollars for a gallon of gas.
7.31 gives you 65 mpg.
2.65 gives 35 mpg
You do the math. I think it is about the same amount of money.
Yeah but imagine if you lived there AND had a car that did 65 mpg ;) there's absolutely nothing to stop that happening... but you americans seem to just love cars that have terrible fuel economy :D
@chris128
Nice bikes sunshine, shame about the off at Brands, wish I had a track bike to do rounds at my local track (Castle Combe nr Swindon).
2000 Honda Civic
Pros: Still runs with minimal maintenance.
Cons: Still runs so no valid reason to buy replacement.
2010 Toyota Innova
Pros: Best value for money in its class.
Cons: More obvious than a wedding ring.
2005 Subaru STi
Looks similar to this:

Oops! I did not realize I posted the small pic!! Sorry
I always knew that things were up side down in Australia but I didn't know that half way, in africa, they were tilted 90 degrees :)
Actually his pictures are at the proper angle. It's a shot from space zoomed in. The earth's axis is vertical in the picture.
good news. I am getting a lexus tomorrow night. Not sure what year, but its black.
i will take a picture when i get it. Im not sure what model or year it is.
Make sure you test out the brakes.
If you find the brakes don't work, no worry. The company has managed to fix that by making cars that don't move.

And while you're at it, also make sure the car goes in the direction you want to go (if it does indeed go).

Well i was supposed to get a 2002 Hyundai for free... but that caught fire. So i am getting this car last minute. :)
I will be sure to report back to you in the event i drive off the road or if it decides not to go anywhere.
:thumb: Yes, i stole it.
I was initially supposed to get a cheap car for like <$3000. Now my dad is paying $4000 + $13000 from my gparents. Which came as a surprise to me. Going from a $3000 car to a $17000 car...
When i posted i said 13000, i meant 1300. the car was 5300.

Nice :) I like the interior, apart from that huge gear stick but I guess all automatics are like that?
The Lexus does look cool.
Thanks :D I love it. I wish it had a Subwoofer though. That will be my first addition... eventually.
