Re: On the patch - how long will I last?
I believe that incentives should not be positive or negative incentives, but that you
should have both a positive incentive and a negative incentive.
For example:
Positive - Have a pint of Ale each time you do not smoke a cigarette.
negative - Send an envelope filled with large denomination, used notes to your local M.P.
for their expenses each time you do smoke a cigarette.

It appears that i have smoked 243 cigarettes this year... That is interesting...

Aye, first time I went to that site it says I've smoked 243 cigarettes as well. I tried it once when I was young but I hated it and can't stand the smell... so you got a bug :).

Re: On the patch - how long will I last?
Hard coded values. Forgot to change that. :(
I haven't tried giving up smoking yet. I live by the motto of "Winners never quit". :thumb:

That was it. After two packs a day for almost ten years I quit cold turkey. At 7:55 pm on Wednesday, March 28, 1990 I smoked my last cigarette.
Of course the ***** still wouldn't go out with me, but at least I quit.
Smoking was probably the most obvious reason NOT to go out with you, of course when you eliminated that she couldn't find the heart to tell you the next obvious reason which is god knows what. :afrog:

Re: On the patch - how long will I last?
Personally, I think smoking is a total waste of time but who cares about what I say? I have my own damning addictions to contend to... (that is pokemon  latest update, i captured a http://pokebeach.com/news/0309/rotom.jpg)

Re: On the patch - how long will I last?
I was able to kick the Pokemon habit but I'm still addicted to Animal Crossing.
There are a few things I miss about smoking. One is taking smoke breaks at work. Its seems that I was the only one who kept track of them. I could disappear for a little bit, pop back in and just say I went out for a smoke. Oddly, I think I was healthier back then. I was 25 pounds lighter and I walked a lot more.

And that is exactly why I smoke. I can't see how other people can work for hours on end without taking a break. I watch the clock and make sure that I take at least a 15 minute break every hour. :thumb:

So your 8 hour day consists of 2 hours worth of breaks and at least an hour for lunch?
Nice....

I read once in BBC about a research that says people that stop smokers are more likely to gain weight something to do with hormones or fat-reducing agents being released when smoking and stopped when not. Anyways I could be wrong but I'm sure that article is in BBc.

If he worked for me he'd be taking a pay cut and donating it to a homeless dogs fund.

Re: On the patch - how long will I last?
I don't smoke, nor do I drink. I'm also religious.
As you may gather, I'm trying as hard to be a real-life troll as possible.
-
Re: On the patch - how long will I last?
Here's how my 15 year old Merriam Webster novel size dictionary defines troll : a dwarf or giant in Scandinavian folklore inhabiting caves or hills.

Re: On the patch - how long will I last?
mendhak
how you getting on no update for us?
that's me 2 full weeks without a Cig and felling great.

Re: On the patch - how long will I last?
Stop *****footing around and just quit. The main reason people go back to smoking is because they give themselves a psychological get-out clause from the start; instead of saying that they're trying to stop smoking, they should say that they don't smoke.
I started smoking when I was 11 and was on 20-30 a day by the time I reached 17, and I gave up at the first time of asking at the age of 25. And yes, I realise I'm being very smug about this. :)
-
Re: On the patch - how long will I last?
Wow - that swear-filter's a bit harsh! There's nothing wrong with the word "*****footing"!
-
Re: On the patch - how long will I last?
Anyone trying not Pu$$yfooting about and strugling with giving up should take duncans advice with a pinch of salt. different strokes for different folks
Although congratulations to you Duncan.
The general jist of his statment is correct i belive, you do need to be determined however it's one of the hardest things i have done and others i know also state that it's a hard thing to do. Stick in there Mendhak you can do it.

Re: On the patch - how long will I last?
***** offends me. Can we filter it please?
-
Re: On the patch - how long will I last?
Oh wow, ***** is now filtered? People are too sensitive anymore.
-
Re: On the patch - how long will I last?
Cigarettes have filters. Forums have filters. It's only logical.
I'm avoiding this thread because all this smoking talk makes me want to smoke. No updates will be provided. Goodbye cruel forum world.
-
Re: On the patch - how long will I last?
Are you implying that forums are bad for you?
-
Re: On the patch - how long will I last?
You will probably last until something really pisses you off. In your case, a baby will start crying at the supermarket and force you to spark up. When it comes to quitting cigarettes, I prefer the gum or chantix.
Good Luck :afrog:

Re: On the patch - how long will I last?
