Opinions on the colored tabs?

My immediate response was I didn't like them.

Aren't they an opt in feature only (ie only when pressing ctrl+click link)

I found they popped up when you used either the big blue or green button when you highlight something on the page, and they get coloured to suit.

Or middle click... but how else do you open a link from a page to a new tab?
