Yes, You diagnosed it correctly. :thumb:

When I tested with my friend it worked perfectly OK.

However, is there someway I could do a self test to ensure that it is working correctly without involving anyone else or a second PC?

It already works fine with the local IP address. I was looking for a loopback method.

get a router that supports hairpins (i don't know of a cheap one, i'm sure Cisco has one).

i think this thread is resolved and you have a new question, that doesn't appear to have anything to do with .Net.
