How much is too much?

Sorry, but why should I let you prevent me from drinking or smoking?

I do agree that, as with nearly any activity, there are places or situations where drinking or smoking can be inappropriate, and I think it is good to see that there have been a few laws in various countries/states enacted in recent years to enforce smoke-free areas.

However, I get the impression, from you (although I'm glad you don't do either activity at your age) and Arrow_Raider, that because you do not drink or smoke you have some kind of right to go on a moral crusade against those who choose to do so. I'm afraid this is simply not so.

Respect the rights of people to do things that they choose, as long as they do not harm others.

I started drinking when I was 15 and stopped soon after I turned 21... being able to walk into a liquor store and buy it legally took most of the fun out of it :(

no offense, but that's kind of sad...
drinking for the kick it gives you because you're underage...

what's even more sad; I see lots of people (also around me) doing that.

I'm not part of the youthful wing of VB, and I have never been drunk. I believe that a glass of wine (especially red wine) a day is beneficial. Unfortunately, I'd rather drink cough syrup to any wine I have ever tasted. Thus, though it might actually be good for me, I'd have to force myself to drink it. Beer is much worse to me. It's either nasty, or it reminds me of an experiment that went wrong....but that's another story.

All of my friends drink, and I don't really care. They haven't been so irresponsible that they hurt anybody, but they have done plenty of stupid things, and even remember some of them. As far as I can see, there is no reason to drink alcohol when for a much lower price you could eat a chunk of a mushroom and be lit up for twelve hours or so, and will mostly be too paranoid to do any harm. Haven't tried it myself, but alcohol simply isn't cost competitive, so if I wanted to alter my state, I certainly wouldn't waste money on a foul tasting liquid.

It's not all foul-tasting. Beer sucks, I'll agree with that. I haven't had wine recently, so I can't comment there. I'm a fan of various mixed drinks. I have no problem drinking it, because it tastes quite good, but in the end I still wind up loopy. Once you hit a certain stage, taste doesn't even matter anymore...

I didn't drink just because I was underage. We did a few fun times getting our hands on alcohol though. Really, being able to get drunk legally allowed me to make a complete ass of myself in public more than once and it just lost it's appeal. :P

You all drink too much.

i disagree it's the alcohol making your wallet empty. in my case it was the motel room i got because of the alcohol me and the broad were drinking.
Upshot of this is I don't drink very often, but evidently i am very sexy when i am drunk.
Also: I am no longer separated from my wife. I slept with someone else and she got drunk, sent me mean email, asked me to move back in with her next day. I guess she realized she really does want me, but it took me seeing someone else while in an alcoholic stupor for her to see it.:rolleyes:
