Thanks JP. I didn't notice your reply until now. Thanks again.
How has it been so far today folks?
Sticky..... had a time out at 8:44central this morning.... LastPost saved me.... had slowdowns yesterday at quarter past, half past and quarter till, off and on during the day. We'll see how today goes.

If it starts going flaky on you again, note the times, as you did before.
Any consistencies that can be pointed out will help in diagnosing the problem.
Well, here is what I experienced this morning:
- when navigation was very slow I would hit the stop button and then GO or Refresh button few times and page would load
- without that I would get the timeout or "page cannot be loaded" or something error.
That behavior includes replies as well but I didn't loose anything - was able to use the browser's "go back" functionality.
It's fine at the moment.
I'm getting a lot of timeouts today (last one at 9:42) page could not be displayed. Some of the page loads are taking a long time also. I'm using IE7 with tabs I can load a new page from another location in a new tab faster then a refresh on VBFroums.
That corresponds to similar times for me (mine are Central TZ)
8:10 - trying to get into User PAnel
8:12 - hitting Quote on a posting
8:44 - just opening VBF

The timeout problem that has been going for the past week or two is still happening at the same clip on my end.
If pressed, I'd say it started at the same time as the new banner was added.
the timing may have coincided, but it's occurring on sites which don't even have the toolbar, so it's pure coincidence
Real slow again 1:16 - 1:18 EST
But if the problem isn't found yet, wouldn't it be easier to shutdown the forums for some hours and reset the servers as the problem most probably lies there?
I'd say it's at least worth a shot...
EDIT: With reset I mean reinstall
With one site it's easy (more or less) but when you have two dozen or so and everyone of them is ads driven then it wouldn't be as simple.
Also, the advertisers might need to be notified so it's an extreme if you ask me and it should always be the very last thing you do - basically when you run out of idea.
We're not talking about Windows here. :DQuote:

I agree with both sentiments.Quote:

Irony -= I just experienced a slowdown, pulling up THIS page... 8:33-8:34 central (GMT -6)

It is 9:54 EST here, and I haven't an any problems all morning (maybe having all fingers and toes crossed really does work. :D )
 Since yesterday very mimor issues so I'll keep mine crossed as well but it's darn blazing fast at the moment (just couldn't resist not to mention). :)Quote:

It seems the problem only occurs during weekdays. Not weeknights, and not on the weekends. I assume that means the issue is load related.
No JP - I had serious issues during weeknights, weekdays and weekends. Mornigs, noons, afternoons - you name it.
I don't think it's load related - tt could be blazing fast and literally "all of a sudden" "bang!" to a point of no return.
And if I managed to look at the number of users - there will be nothing extra ordinary - the same few hundreed or so.
you mean the timeout issue, or the slowdown? they're two separate issues. I was of the opinion that the timeouts was a hardware issue, but I don't get them on the weekends or at night, which would seem to indicate that its load related. So you get timeouts on evenings and weekends?
To me those two are one issue - there is never one without the other - it's like happy marriage.Quote:

Just for your information - today at arround 1:00 PM I did experience slowdown while trying to post reply but it didn't last long (few minutes at most).
Here's what I've been experiencing today (all times Central)
8:34-8:35 - slow down
8:42 - slowdown.... again
10:40 - another slowdown
11:23 - once again....

I have been getting quite a lot of "Connection Refused" errors today while trying to browse the forums, particulary trying to view the second page of this thread. First error was about 2:30AM my time (GMT +10:00), and last one was about 2:36AM.
Thank you for your input, and especially for the times. These can help in attempting to track down the cause.
(But most of all, thank you for your patience. :) )
I have noticed the timeout errors seemed to have stopped (knock on wood, cross fingers, pinch of salt over shoulder)

I've had 5 timeout errors in the last hour (it's about 1:50 PM here)
oooooh... so THAT's where they went...I wondered where they had gone off to.
-tg
I timed out 3 times trying to get to the last page of this thread.
It has been intermittent for me all day long. This last one was 2:45pm MDT.
This thread is two weeks old and I recall some problems before that as well. How's it coming along?
Thanks.
Past few hours up to this moment are slow.
Actually, I haven't had any issues since my last posting.... go figure.

I some times use a dial up connection. It took ttttttttttttttttoooooooo much time to load(even 5 mts for the home page).Very painful
Dana
That is probably not related to the site specifically, which, by the way, I have had 0 issues with for the past few days.
Anyone been having any problems lately?
I haven't been on much for the past week due to a myriad fantasy drafts. But it's been quite peppy so far today with no timeouts for me.
It's been reasonably fast and I have had no connection/timeout issues for a few days either.
No complaints here either for today - yesterday was a bit slow throughout the day.
I'm sure our site admins will be very pleased to read these last few posts. :)
