If I felt that way about you I would but...you seem like a very sensible, intelligent and humorous young man! Unlike the author of this thread.

Shall we have a big brat-fest? I'll continue:

bratwurst
bratwurst mit currysosse
bratwurst ohne alles
Sure, why not! I'm drinking coffee again so the world is ok. No one could possibly p!ss me off today. I love caffine!
And I am a brat.
we sure are killing this thread. seems like all the young programmers are off somewhere else.
They've all gone to join rmitch_uk's company...

huh?
My point exactly.
Not you Dennis....for some reason I don't think of you as a typical "young programmer"
huh?
I still don't understand why the bold "off"
do you possibly mean wrong or something..?
sorry for being so slow, I am a little tired today... and I have one helluva headache :(
I try not to think of Dennis if I can help it.
This was a while ago but anyways...
Where did you see that vegetarian thing? Just curious, I saw it in a bumper sticker a few weeks ago and laughed my brains out of my head (that's why I keep posting messages like this :)). I've got to come up with a signature like that. And "Live long and prosper" is alrady taken... darn...Quote:

What kind of nutter keeps more than one dog on a leash?
Just one quick question...if your company is "switch" then why is your symbol a globe?

Yes, it is...

I am so 19, and mature, and I'll kick yer ass to prove it! ;)
(Just kidding in case you hadn't guessed)
Seriously though, do you think I jest unjustly? Gotta admit he was asking for it, with the attitude an all. Well the attitude that came across in text anyway, maybe there isn't one in RL.
The kid was serious and the people made fun of him , how do you think he feels i hate people that just make fun of people that try to do somthing for there lifes in the world . DO you seriously think that a mature/perfessional person whould make fun of someone because they where serious, i dont think so .
Riiight..... so you think that it is mature and professional to call anybody more than 4 years older than you an old fart? You think that it is not in the least bit disrespectful, or even insulting to insinuate that said elders' ideas are less 'fresh', and even that they would not be able to get along with the other members of the group?
Hardly a professional or mature outlook. More than that, it's pretty ridiculous, which is the very point which I wanted to make, in a jovial kind of way.
Essentially, he insulted the majority of the forum members, and a lot of them haven't taken too kindly to it. Merely a human reaction, not an immature one. Besides, he doesn't need you to defend him, he's got no respect for anything anybody says anyway.
I'm with Harry (although a not that contributing participant in the thread, but who cares). If someone offends you, (to my opinion) you certainly have the right to offend him back. And I doubt that this thread left any everlasting scars on him anyway.
-JR-
I would call Harry an old fart, but not necesarily everybody 19 or older...
but seriously.. I am around the same agegroup as ricmitch, but I think he was acting like an ass....
Well gee, thanks :)
I was just kidding H..... :p
Just curious, how old are you wey97?Quote:
I was programming while you were in diapers.
I'll show you old fart you little f**k!
drewski
for a bunch of *old farts* you are pretty immature. I guess i'm going to be considered an *old fart* in another 2 years but right now i'm probably more mature than half of you. I think you should keep your rude comments to yourself and not try to put down the young ones learning. I've been programing since i was 8 years old in like 7 different programming languages and I'm still learning. So let us young ones be...We appreciate all the support and help that you *old farts* offer to us for the ones in training and I hope you will continue with your generous time and help.
As to the original post of this message, I would gladly like to help you out with your business. Right now I have absolutely no reason to program but for fun. If i could make a little profit that would be great.
d00d, you can email me back at [email protected]

I didn't appreciate him calling others "old farts" just because they have maturity. It's a sign of that maturity that we don't like things like this!
BTW I'm only 17 and have been programming for 11 years...
those that are mature would ignore a small offence like calling elders *old farts*.
In point of fact, the first person to use term old fart was
myself....I turned 50 a few days ago.
My personal disgust stems from the calm assumption that the
only "new" ideas can come from someone under a specified
age. It has been my experience that someone that young
does not have new ideas, but rather rediscovers old ones.
It is true that the great advances in computing languages
and OS's have (generally speaking) come from younger
minds. But these younger minds were in their late 20's and
early 30's when this occurred. They also had an enormous
amount of theory under their belts, and not just about
programming.
The underlying premise of "fresh ideas" due to youth is
flawed.
that may be that we do rediscover old ideas....hell, i just finished writing a program to lock your system up untill a password is entered a few minutes ago.....it works perfectly....thats an old idea...its just redesigned in a way that I find it most effecient for use. Let him just have his fun....If he just wants the youth to be programming for him...let him be....this should be a concern only for him. If in your opinion you think that new ideas come from the more experienced and the wiser then you can stick with it....i'm not complaining....i just think you should let everyone decide for themselves what they want.
I'm with you DerFarm. What bothered me most was the idea that no ideas of value could possible come from someone over 18.
