No way - you paid for it - to get all the goodies you need the Vista Ultimate and most people will find it very expensive.Quote:

Ahh .. not too expensive once you get the OEM version . ..

Officially, licensing for an OEM version is only valid on a system purchased from HP, Dell, Gateway, etc. Hence the ackronym: Original Equiptment Manufacturer.
I read something today about Home Basic and how it was worthless as its too limited. Hmm, memory already gone. Cant remember exactly the feature that was missing. :(
Not just Dell, HP etc .. i read the full MS license tonight and I qualify as a system builder. ;)

PS. didnt you know my "dont worry mon" computers "manufactured" in the Bahamas .. :D
PSS. The names you mentioned are far from being "Original Equipment Manufacturers" as the acronym applies ..
as most if not all of their components are made by other manufacturers, hence the name OEM is actually flawed
Dont worry though, we deal with the OEM issue in the CCTV Industry every day.
Well actually I am registered with MS as a Registered Member and qualified as a System Builder :D I get the resource CDs for system building but havent looked at them at all - too busy and no time. :(
Send me the CD's if you dont use them :pQuote:

deciding what to do .. i want to build PC DVRs .. and hence im spending alot of time researching .. as ive gone through mobos in the past recently like they were flies .. mostly because of the selection we have here .. I know WHAT i need, just trying to find it is another thing .. so im looking to buy one (well a few to start as it would be an order for a home PC as well as a couple others) then if it does what i need .. order a bunch more .. all mobo/ cpu/ memory, hdd parts .. the cases i havent decided yet if ill get them here or there yet .. either way i want a mobo i can use all around for home and DVR .. matx but also will look at the full atx for the higher end systems .. either way the mobo is the most important part of the puzzle here .. right now im looking at Asus, as Im done with MSI and Giga Byte .. the clients just have to spend is all .. with DVRs the video card makes a diff too so that isnt cheap .. in fact it cost the same as the mobo in this case .. CPU means something but not as much as the memory and the other parts ..
Anyways .. as to Vista i need to get my hands on something ..
either way it will come with a whole new system in parts .. :-)
activating it from here is another issue but i'll cross that bridge when i get to it ..
back to deciding .. i prefer making this software though,
specifically for remote video . anyway time will only tell i guess ...
plus i am selling the software .. just working on a new release now :)
