Let's Make An Omelette
Laughing my @ss off
That's what I thought it meant, but people are either using it incorrectly, or mindlessly giggling over all kinds of inane blather.Quote:

LOL usually indicates a vague feeling of mirth, occasionally producing a small smile.Quote:

Actual laugher, even giggles, is generally reserved for a ROFL, or "rolling on floor laughing".
One could indeed liken the concept to that of inflation. As time progresses the degree of overstatement increases.
But people ask questions and finish with lol? If somebody did something like that in person, it would be interpreted as a vaguely unsettling, self-conscious giggle.
Ah, but when you see "...lol?", this actually means "Laughs out loud, pulls out a knife"
Well in the case of our friend 05aarafe1752#a6, we could consider his interpretation of "lmao" as a form of punctuation.
Repeated omelette-making suggestions would put a stop to any sentence.
ending a sentance with lol is the same as laughing at your own jokes in real life...Quote:

But then again.. I think talking in short type or from where I come from we term it "SMS language" is just plain annoying and silly. I hate it when I get a headache from thinking up all the possible meaning it holds and THEN choosing one that seems viable enough and DISCOVERING I got it wrong after all .. GRRRR!!.

05ar15's signature sums it up. And, handily, prophecises what's coming to him.
Can we ban people with a majority vote?Quote:

The power of your vote should be equal to the number of rep points you have. An ignore option would be great as well. ;)

Some I see on the list is

YKYBOTLW - You know you've been on-line too long when...
LYLAB/S - Love You Like A Brother/Sister
All I have to say to that is... "TIPES, you idjut" (That is pretty effin stupid, you idjut)
